Do your cats fight?
ours started to a week ago. We just have two and they usually get along but all of a sudden they are really fighting. Hattie the bigger cat is attacking hazel the small one. Is there anything that we should do? Would it matter? I am not sure about cat behavior, hazel is hiding under the futon in the family room and hattie is on top of the futon. sigh bizi edited to add that she just came out and hattie ignored her.... |
My cats have spats fairly regularly. They're brief, and then it's back to business as usual. Since this behavior is new for your kitties, I suspect it may have something to do with all the work you're having done on the house... cats are sensitive to changes like that. If they're hurting one another, or one cat is really withdrawing, you may want to consider getting a Feliway Multi-Cat Diffuser to see if that calms them down and helps with any territorial behavior. Otherwise, I would let them work it out.
My brother will be 30 in September. He got his Bachelor's Degree in Business Management (I think). He already got his degree in the mail a couple of weeks ago, and texted us all last night to say he decided he didn't want to walk for graduation. That's fine by me, since I don't know if I could have made it out of the parking lot- let alone navigate the "arena" where the ceremony is being held. Now I don't have to deal with my sister either, which is a huge bonus. I will mail him his card. The cat boxes desperately need to be dumped and cleaned... they f***ing stink!!! I have been putting it off for too long because I've either been too tired or too busy with other things, so I'm actually happy that I can stay home and finally get it done. Then I will bleach out the tub/shower, take a shower and a nap. The swim top I settled on comes in a set that was only $24.99, but I'm far too modest to wear the bottoms that come with it (I already have bottoms). It's not my typical style, but there were a lot of reviews, it got 4.5/5 stars, and most people said it was "true to size." It's long-sleeved and has thumb holes, so as long as it KINDA FITS, I'll be satisfied. |
happy you are finding what you need in regards to swim wear. I understand how important that was for you.
A neighbors cat keeps coming around and meowing her head off for attention which we go out and give her lots of attention though we never feed her. She wants to come into the house and has gotten in just over the threshold 2 times now. She has jumped on the window sill and have fought with hattie thru the window knocking stuff off and hattie puffs up. So maybe this is the reason for the aggression from hattie???? poor hazel has scratch marks on her nose....poor kitty. hazel is our social cat and would get along with the torty the neighbors cat, if we were to let her in. Hattie would attack torty for sure. Hattie is a bully....but afraid to people and rarely comes out when we have guests. Cats are interesting. bizi |
Kay,
I'm happy to see that you found a present idea for your brother. Good luck getting around at the graduation. M |

You may have your answer right there, Bizi. Cats are very territorial. Maybe Hattie can't take her aggressions out on Torty and is taking it out on Hazel? As sad sit may sound, you should probably stop paying so much attention to Torty so she stops coming around, or at least as often, so these problems with your own kitties don't continue. Could be a combo of both things tho, especially if Torty has been coming around for a while. Sometimes my cats will get little scratches, but nothing major. It is hard to watch them fighting, but I guess they get sick of one another and it's the way they work things out. |
Thanks Kay!
Torty is so demanding/ starved for attention That she cries almost constantly if you don't pet her and she is a very loving cat more so than our own pets so it is gratifying to give/receive affection. She will get on top of our cars, the window ledge late at night etc. I think you are right about hattie taking it out on hazel. Hope you have a good day! bizi |
The 3 cat boxes are REALLY BIG and high-sided because 2/3 of my kitties are big boned AND obese. Cleaning the boxes, and bleaching out the tub/shower afterwards, was a HUGE job for me... it took me longer and was even more taxing than doing the laundry!
I really pushed it, but it doesn't make sense to spread the work over a couple of days because it would mean bleaching out the tub multiple times, and the tub is HUGE, and a big enough project itself. The spasticity in my legs has been waking me up in the early morning hours. I don't know if I'm not smoking enough MJ, or if it is just wearing off. The next time I go to the dispensary I will ask if they have any ideas. I may go to just buy more edibles so I can get help with that problem sooner rather than later. Fortunately the appointment I have today isn't until 12:30pm... It's with the gastro NP who said there was nothing else they could do for me. I expect she will want to discuss shipping me off to Boston for testing and/or pawning me off on a different specialist in the city. I will LISTEN. I want to know how these tests will benefit ME before I go along with what they want me to do. |
good luck with the NP at the gastro office this afternoon.
sorry that the MJ is not holding you over, it was before. Did something change? (((((HUGS)))) bizi |
Since I had the recent relapse, the spasms in my legs are worse, and I have them in more areas than I did before. They are also worse now in the evening and before I smoke MJ at night if I walk/do too much during the day...
And I have been trying to do too much, but that doesn't mean that the benefits of the pot wouldn't last. |
