I'm sorry that you are so anxious about returning to school. Of course that's understandable

I'm so happy that you have such a great support system!
I remember you dropped a class because you thought it would be too much. So between that, and all those people in your corner, I think you will do very well

We will be here for you for support, and depending on what class you are taking, if you get stuck on something, we may even be of help with it

I forgot... do you take something for your anxiety?

I am not taking anything for anxiety unless you consider trazodone as part of that category. It does help calm me down some when I take it but since I only take it at night for sleep, I don't consider it an anti-anxiety medication.

The classes that I will be taking this term are freshman composition, which starts the week of the 17th and a business writing class that starts mid October. I ended up dropping my 3rd class that was supposed to start last week. It was a music class that I will try to take in a different term. Just too much for me to jump right in to 3 classes after not being in school for 5 years.

Sometimes Trazodone is prescribed for anxiety, but I agree with you that it isn't an effective an anti-anxiety med. Have you considered taking anything for your anxiety? I know there are draw-backs...

I think it's great that you are starting off by taking two writing writing classes... You write very well, and very clearly. I think you will find the classes to be easy for you

I think you can also think of them more as I'm going to have fun
with these classes. I'm going to enjoy writing. Even though
you might have to write about something specifically.

I start classes on Monday, but I have been trying to get ahead of my work by starting my assignments yesterday. With my parents out of town for the next two weeks and classes finally here, I am super anxious again. I smoked a little mj yesterday just to calm down enough to be able to get to sleep, but I don't like to smoke every night, so tonight I am having a few drinks. It's something that I haven't done in quite a while, but I am hoping that it helps calm me down some. If not, I might have to talk with my pdoc come Monday.

A lot of people take benadryl to sleep it is what is in the tylenol PM....that pm part is benadryl. You can buy generic allergy pills. You can take 1-2 at night.
melatonin has helped many people.
good luck, I would not suggest drinking alcohol to sleeep.

I would try the Benadryl and see if it works, but if you take it, it's not a good idea to smoke or drink after if it doesn't work for you...
But I have taken it (starting with 1 tablet, going up to 2 if needed) when I have been agitated in the past, and it has helped me calm down, but not sleep, but that's just me. It hasn't helped me this time around tho because I've been manic vs. hypo.
It helps my husband fall asleep tho.

It's never a good idea to self-medicate, even tho I do. Honestly, the pot is better than alcohol. I don't know how many drinks you are having, but be careful

It's Sunday, so I guess that means you can contact your pdoc tomorrow, and I think you should. I think I remember you saying you don't take anything for your anxiety, which you seem to really suffer with. Maybe it's time to think about doing that

My two cents worth. I think its just because tomorrow is the
first day of classes. So I would just try the benedryl.

And I'd have a book ready in case the bendryl doesn't work.
That way you can read in stead of drinking. I would then
talk to the pdoc about things. But I think its because its the first
day of class
