Kay it sounds like your father is having a rough time. Where the heck is wife in all this. I recall she is a real, shall we say, female dog? Sorry if I over step my bounds, but this makes it so difficult for you to ensure he is getting care. I would almost want to do a well fare check. But I tend to over react perhaps.
I also experience urinary retention but not enough to catch daily. I retain urine after I empty my bladder so I can manually message bladder area and release additional urine most times. Yep TMI... Brother should have at least ask how you are doing after all the sh@t you have been through. I have a brother like this. His head is too far up his own behind to think about others often. Yes, he has it tough but still. I am at my fathers. Just came back from friends who have a pool so the grandkids had a ball. My friend just got her PhD and teaches psyc nursing. We both used to work on psyc intensive care together. She is a real nurse that gives heart and soul to her job. That is a different chapter in my life. |

Yes, my father's wife is not a good person. And while I think she loves my father, I think she could be doing more ie/ bringing in that doctor who makes house calls again to see if she will treat him even if he refuses to GO to a doctor or the hospital. VNA nurses can draw blood and administer IV meds at homes, so why can't she as an MD? or why couldn't she order the VNA to do it?
My brother saw her on the 4th, the same day I talked to my dad, at his business, which he has been absent from and she has been running into the ground. I guess she was absolutely trashed, and when my brother asked how my father was doing, she said he had a good day a couple of days ago, so she was "hopeful." ![]() My brother should get his ***** over there to see what's going on, but from talking to my father on the phone, it sounds like his confusion comes ad goes. He does have dementia, but I don't know to what degree. Even a urinary tract infection could do that to someone in poor health. So, I don't know what good one visit would do, but my brother should at least try... Yes, his head is up his *****. He hasn't come down from his manic episode. His pdoc still has him on Zoloft "for his anxiety" ![]() Rain shower, as far as the urinary retention... not TMI. During an inpatient stay in the psych ward while I was highly paranoid (and more), I had to be accompanied to the BR and thought that the girls going in with me were way too interested in what I was doing when I was cathing, so I refused to do it. Then when I got home, I just couldn't do it anymore. That lasted a while, and I did what you are doing- manually compressing my bladder. I still do it sometimes because I have to pee so often, can't pee "all the way", and can only cath so many times, and it's very uncomfortable. In the last few days, I have finished cleaning the apartment. I went to CVS yesterday to pick a few things up vs. going grocery shopping which means I will have to do that today. I will also have a lot on my plate Monday now, but I was just sick and tired of not getting anything done around here... The problem is that cleaning is never really "done." It's a continuous process ![]() Before doing the kitchen floor yesterday, I picked up the trash barrel to move it, and found several of Rocky's pills and some pill fragments. So, even the times when I've thought I was getting the pills in him, he's been spitting them out. So, I called the vet to ask for a prescription for the transdermal medication. The pharmacy is going to ship it to me. It will cost $69 for a 60 day supply and $9 for shipping. Not cheap, but less expensive than I thought it would be. He needs the medication. For most nurses, the good ones, it is a calling, not a job. Unfortunately, some people are getting into the field now for the $$$ and patient care is suffering. Congratulations to your friend. I'm glad that she is one of the great ones. I'm sorry you can no longer practice. I bet you were one of the great ones, too (((HUGS))) |

I got the grocery shopping done yesterday, but left later than I would have liked to for the same reason as every other day. By the time I left, it was 92 degrees out... not good weather if you have MS and have to wear long sleeves, but it's been in the 90's, or near-90's, for days now.
Corey's birthday is Tuesday, our 12th anniversary is Wednesday, and my birthday s Thursday. I also have an appointment on Tuesday, two on Wednesday, and A LOT of things to do... I wrote myself a list of things to do, and the target day to do each thing. Unfortunately, most things have to be done on Monday or Tuesday. The more I can get done on Monday, the better tho. Corey wants pulled pork sandwiches for dinner on his birthday (Tuesday), so I have to get home as early as I can to get that going. Today is laundry day. We have 2 weeks worth to do, and more than usual. I HATE doing laundry. Fortunately it will not be as hot out today. I'm going to have to get to bed early tonight. I'm going to have to be well-rested if I'm going to get everything I need to get done, done in the next couple of days. |

Happy early birthday. I prefer celebrating the entire week. Mine is next Tuesday. I just knew you were a July baby.
I have a 18 inch scar on my left arm from surgery. Palm to anicubital fossa. crushing injury, compartment syndrome, crps bla bla bla... I used to wear a very light weight compression stocking like sleeve. That way you can wear short sleeve or sleeveless shirts. People also wear these light weight sleeves to cover tats. Just something to think about. Live comfortably. You do have a lot to do. I use ninja pot to make pulled pork. Or nesco in summer so I don't heat up the place. The ninja is quick. Stay safe. I lost my balance yesterday and tool a tumble. Luckily I tucked and rolled. Not pretty but saved my behind. |

Thank you for the early birthday wishes!
![]() Rain shower, I should have guessed that you are a Cancer, too! ![]() Unfortunately, the scars are from my s/s attempt, and I need to cover almost my entire left arm. I wish I had the money to tattoo over everything. I feel like crap in general. I still haven't gotten into the shower because I've been sitting on my favorite "chair" all morning again. At least my stomach is feeling better than it was when I got up tho. Trying to manage this problem is ridiculous. I just have to take the Mirilax most days or I'll be in trouble. The CT scan reports were extremely generic. The ONLY thing the radiologist was interested in was lymph nodes. ALL it said about my abdomen was that I had a sub-total colectomy and there were no obstructions. My surgeon will look at the images herself of course tho. I see her August 2nd. So, I won't get around to doing everything I wanted to today, but I will make myself return that f'ing cable box, go to Target to buy cat litter and cards for Corey, and go to the butcher shop. At least everything is in the same area. When I come home, I have two weeks' worth of laundry to put away. I will season my pork butt tomorrow morning and throw it in the Nesco cooker (IDK it's big, either a 6 or 7 quart) when I get home in the afternoon. I don't like leaving it going while I'm out, so that means that I'll be cooking it for less time than I usually do. It will still come out good. |

Hi, Kay,
You have a busy day planned. I wish you felt better. I don't know exactly what pork butt is. but it apparently is a two day process. We raised pork for ourselves when I was a kid but hubby and I do not have pork in the house because he generally follows muslim food practices. M |
