the laxative causes the diarrhea. I just read how constipating dairy is and I had so much cheese yesterday. I have to read up on IBS. I am dependent on laxatives. I could have that. thanks

Bobby

My thought is if the cheese was good then just take a little
more of something to feel better.

I take the tablets of fiber they really seem to help me.
I just take them when my stomach feels like I need them.

But at first I took them 6 a day religiously because that
was what I needed. I still take 4, 3 or 4 days a week.

They really help me.

I an so sorry to hear you are suffering from this vicious cycle also. I understand what it is like to have constipation and diarrhea. It sounds more common than I thought.

I have had numerous colonoscopies but not anymore! My primary md orders Cologuard, which is a home kit stool specimen you mail in. It is probably not
as effective as a colonoscopy to detect colon cancer or precancerous cells, however, it is better than nothing to evaluate you.

The fear of the unknown can be so much pressure. So maybe have one colonoscopy to put your mind at ease, and then after this baseline test, use the cologuard as a possible alternative in the future. Diverticulosis could also be a culprit. Colonoscopy will find these little pockets in our bowl and diet can be modified if needed.

I have had IBS most of my life. Medicine is such an imperfect science.
Guess work? Yup...

Stool softness, mirlax, suppositories, enemas, prescription meds, OTC meds... It is such a delicate balance. i try to eat a variety of protein, veg, fruit and dairy. I know which food I must not eat and moderation is the key. Right now I feel I could burst. TMI!

I hope you find balance with your bowels.

Lots of cheese can be constipating.

Fiber is the first-line script for constipation. It bulks up stool and helps it travel more easily through the intestines. It's not a bad idea to take some in conjunction with your regular regiment. They make it in lots of forms, including gummies now.

I used to take lactulose, which is a prescription, for constipation many years ago and it worked well. Your GI may prescribe it, but there are also new meds on the market that people with IBS, or similar symptoms, have had good luck with. One is called Linzess, I forget the others.

I hope that the mag. citrate works for you this time

I had a lot of prunes so I don't know if it was the prunes or the magnesium but I finally went a little. My stomach is still bothering me. I am not good for anything.
