Nope those were the true temperatures. And yes its hot, hot , hot.
Just glad since school is starting in many areas that most have air. Its really weird its been mostly nice all summer till now. Donna :grouphug: |
hi everyone.
Its the weekend again.. Its been nice week, and probably will be returning to a hot weekend. We will see. Derrick and I are planning to garage sale. We really enjoy it. The dogs will go too. They like to go too. I'm getting busy with work again, thanks to schools either starting or getting ready to this week. Donna:hug::grouphug: |
Its been a heat advisory for the last three days. And its been hot.
So today its rained and rained. Then this afternoon we lost the electricity for 3 hours. Its back as you can see now. I've been busy with work. Its nice being needed. Donna :grouphug: |
Donna,
I just read that you have a PT Cruiser. My daughter has one too. I think I've only seen 2 other ones locally in our area. It's getting old now, but such a handy vehicle. Very bad on the U turns though as it is long bodied. Back seats come totally out and can move pieces of furniture in the back. That was why she got it originally as she was buying old pieces and upcycling. Sorry you're dealing with the heat being so bad. We are still technically in winter but only had about a couple of weeks reprieve from the tropical heat. Ugh, I dread the summer heat this year coming. |
HI lara nice to see from you!
you're an aussie right. Did the koala bears die due to the fires last year, any way to know how many were saved too. The summer has been a hot one here. The whole world has been hotter. ((((hugs)))) bizi |
Hi bizi,
yes, I'm Australian. It's been a while, but the last stats I read were from WWF but i don't want to post the link because of distressing images. <><3 Billion animals (mammals, reptiles, birds, and frogs) were killed or displaced. 143 million mammals, 2.46 billion reptiles, 181 million birds, and 51 million frogs occupied areas hit by the fires.>>> An unprecedented tragedy and it was all so quickly totally forgotten because of the wretched virus. Unbelievably sad. There are many Koala rescue hospitals and organisations and they tried their best in extreme circumstances. I have since moved, but the area where I had been living was surrounded by pristine rain forest and even that was on fire. Fortunately a lot of that has recovered quite well and is regenerating. I was watching recent footage of the fires up the west coast and into Canada. It was so hard to believe. I had travelled in some of those areas in Winter, so the landscape looked totally different. P.S. I posted this on the pet forum a while back. approx 4 mins long Cutest Koala Compilation Ever - YouTube |
thank you for the video. it was so sweet. i don't understand what is going on. i hope the poor creatures have gone to a better place.
fondly, bobby |
Yes Lara
I have a red PT cruiser its being driven right now by my Daughter in law Kortni so my Granddaughter Harmony can get to preschool. I also have have my mom's old dodge stratus that my husband also bought from her estate for me when she passed. So that is what I am driving. I love both vehicles. But its not possible to drive two at a time so i am happy to loan one to her so she can get her to preschool. She has had bad luck with buying vehicles. Donna :grouphug: |
You are a very generous mother, grandmother, wife and worker..
You seemed to have a heart that just keeps getting bigger and bigger. love bizi |
thank you for that adorable koala beer video, Lara. Are people allowed to keep them as pets?
>>>>do you think my cats would tear one up. I want one!!!!!! lol bizi |
It is shocking how many animals were killed....so sad.
you are right news about the covid has dominated the news. I am sorry I called you an aussie, I hope I did not offend you lara. bizi |
It is very, very sad, bizi. All creatures need our help at times.
I am not offended at all. That's funny. aussie, aussie, aussie, oi oi oi. ;) I'm not sure the Koalas would be great playmates for the kitties. ;) They do sleep for a very long time each day though. Where I lived last, I had Wallabies coming right up to the house for shade. In summer I'd put out water for them all, poor things. There were Koalas in the trees up the mountain a bit, but not on my property. Not that I ever saw anyway. They're pretty skittish usually. Donna, you've always done so much for your family. Always. Heck sometimes I think about how long we've all known each other to some extent. I don't have bipolar disorder, but you've all been so welcoming when I pop by for a visit. |
Bizi
I would just go get a stuffed cute one. That is the only way I'd want to have one. I'd think they would do fun things but would be a mess to clean up after. And thanks for the nice words. I am a lot like my mom was. I think I inherited her good things. And then I got the fun of yelling from my husband. Donna :grouphug: |
Hi all,
I got a really great review from my supervisor for my job. I was so happy. She also says she has seen lots of growth which I honestly agree with. I'm just so glad she felt that way. Having been with them for almost 20 years, I would hope my record would speak for its self. So its really nice. I had a really great conference with a parent on Friday, and I think they will finally be ready to sign the IEP. Which makes me so happy. Because they had good reason's not to be ready before. Health and safety reasons. I'm having a good start to the school year. We will see how the year continues to go. I'm here at Derrick's from Friday to Monday, and we have been making some art projects for my Conference on Tuesday and Wednesday. I'm really pleased with the Puzzle type picture frame we bought and decorated and will put something that a co-worker is bringing in colored paper to the conference. And we will then put together a Poster board with the words for Respect, Spelled down that we chose. Which are Rules, Education, Student Parent Empowerment Trust. I'm really looking forward to in the first time in almost two years being able to get together. So I might not be on for a couple days. I'm going to Kokomo after that and back to Derrick's then Today when shopping we bought Derrick's Cooking person, a gift that he then also put together. Donna |
congratulations big time. you are so special. they all are so blessed to have you.
love bobby |
I agree with bobby!:I-Agree::You-Rock:

Laura
I'm not bi-polar either. But my son is, and his girl friend. And my other two son's both have anxiety. So do I for that part. I have two sisters that are bi-polar. One started showing signs of it after her treatment for Leukemia 20 years ago. And is doing so much better. The other one is at times bad, and her husband is also bi-polar. These ladies have always been good at helping me understand my family and come up with ways to support them. I am also working in a job were lots of the kids I deal with have some form of either that or a Mood deregulations disorder. Its really bad right now. I've never found a group of friends that understands everything I go through as well as the people that come through here. And we are always happy more come to visit and some decide to stay. Donna:hug::grouphug: |
I wanted to tell everyone the law conference for special education was fantastic.
And our night together as IN*SOURCE staff was even more fantastic is it was possible. I even won a massage, and I had really needed it bad. I had a issue with my back and it was getting worse. She did a great job of trying to get it to go away. And then I had two boxes that needed to go to my car. One of my co-workers I know very little offered to load them on the cart and get them in my car for me. Along with my luggage. Which I took out the night before. Then I had two volunteers at my table which was our Best of the West team. And we had a skit to do. We had the funniest skit, and my volunteers helped make it so funny. One sang with my team leader, the other lead a co-worker to feeling okay with dancing. And thanks to the four of them and another team member we one the Team award. And we couldn't vote for ourselves. I'm going to guess we were the only vote for another team. But I was kind of lost in the back watching them have so much fun. Derrick made the picture frame with a neat part of our song. that I will now be able to take to fairs. That he will probably be helping with. Donna |
sounds like such a splendid time. i didn't know you had so much bipolar in your family
love bobby |
Yes, it just seems to run in the family. I know it also runs some what along
with depression in my husbands family too. I also had an asthma attack when I got to my room. And at least I was there. It was really hot and we were in the middle of a heat index advisory all last week. I think a lot of the week we hit 100. Ugh it was bad, and muggy and really hot. I was watching my breathing a lot. Had to use my inhaler a lot. Its not usual but its becoming more so. Donna :grouphug::hug: |
Quote:
Donna maybe it is time to reevaluate your inhaler. Maybe there is a different one that would help you more. Ask your pulmonologist. bizi |
My rescue inhaler is fine Bizi.
I just had to use it a little more. Because of having a attack and being in a group of about 400. Large groups are hard but I made it after the first day. But with the heat it wasn't surprising. Now I'm assuming every were its having the same problem our area is having. Were having trouble finding enough bus drivers, so I have a preschooler who is to start school next week. Two days a week, his parents are not sure what they want to do. If it was the local preschool I think just driving to school every day would be fine. But its the live in the country and would have to go across town. And also wanted him to get used to riding the bus. So with 20 kids ahead of him waiting on a bus its a problem in our area. I also have a 8th grader that is being put in a car and transported I find this a big issue too. Even if they did criminal and things like that checks its not what it should be. Donna |
Everyone,
Derrick thinks he has a job. They are doing a background check right now. Its at Payless, which is a grocery store, he would start at the produce section, and also cross train in bakery, deli and could bag/ pick up carts at times. Donna |
that would be so fantastic.
love bobby |
good job derrick!
bizi |
I had Will from Saturday till about 1pm today. We spent most of the time
with Derrick and had a great time. I'm so happy right now. I don't get to see much of him anymore. They just concentrate on his behavior so much that I"m left to wait till he has had good days. But this time, they decided to see if I would take him. Not sure why but I was so glad. Any way I also helped Derrick fill out his Back ground check I thought it had already been done, but nope we did it yesterday. Which is fine. Because he is planning to spend next weekend with me, because its the 50th anniversary of the Dan patch weekend out here in our little town. SO he is looking forward to it. And will go bowling also on Sunday like this week. Donna |
I don't understand why they won't let you see derrick.
You have been with him on bad days? glad that you get to spend some time with him next week. If you did not get to see him his back ground check would not have gotten done. so good for you for helping. (((((HUGS))))) bizi |
how old is derrick? i am so confused as to his behavior, medication and symptoms. i must have missed something the way.
fondly bobby |
Bizi, is confusing Derrick with Will my grandson, When they started
working so hard to get his behavior under a better control. But also were starting to get strict on what he eats and drinks it made it much harder for me to take him places. And so for the ease of my mental health and his family. Plus at that point he was going to his other grandmother's every other weekend, (his mothers mom) so it was easier to just let him do that. They thought they could just let me have him instead one weekend. But I didn't want to take his time away from her. Anyway, I don't go down there to the house much, because with his adhd he will interrupt and get excited I'm there. And Meluvja is not one to like that. Reminds him he is to talk when talked to not when an adult is talking to others. So he is made to wait, and at times its really hard on me. So I quit going down. And I just started waiting till they ask me to take him. But even with that I had to watch what we ate. But it was much easier he ate what we got. He eats most everything now, which makes it much better. And its honestly what we all want. Derrick I see pretty much when I want, and he wants. And yes, his background check would have gotten done. He was to call his job coach today or get a appointment, which probably would have been today. She told him when he asked on Saturday it was fine for me to help him. I was not surprised she wanted to help him it wasn't easy for him to read it. Donna:hug::grouphug: |
Thank you for explaining that to me.
I try to keep up with your family and at times get confused. love bizi |
Well last Friday without hearing from Payless the grocery after the
background check. Because he isn't sure where the buses stop or go. Which is really hard to explain. (They change every once in a while) But mainly because there has been a large amount of drive by shootings, Shootings, in neighborhoods, and even just shootings that result in deaths. Close to the Payless they would have him start. Derrick decided he wasn't feeling safe. And has chosen to not put that job in the running anymore. Also his cooking teacher also asked him, how she was going to help him, get ready, because she had been asked too. And also how he was going to use his safeserv. Which I had started realizing he probably wouldn't be able to do. So I wasn't surprised he chose this option. So Friday night, he and I put his application in at O'Charley's and Noble Roman's. He has always really wanted to work at O'Charleys, but his job coach discouraged it. But she really had no say when the Voc. Rehabilation person, chose to think this would be great for him. So he told her he was going with what she thought was good. So today when I was taking him to Bowling at 1:15pm, he had a message in email from the hiring Manager to come for an interview. So he was really happy. Also please keep my Sis Dee in your prayers. She has seen 3 knee doctor's now, 2 who told her you couldn't have knee cap surgery. And she needs a full knee replacement. She saw this 3rd one and this one will do it hopefully next month, if Covid lets them. She is having problems walking and its very painful so she really needs to get it done. Thanks as always for listening. Donna:hug::hug::hug::grouphug: |
oh donna,
sorry about your sister glad that she got a 3rd opinion! She sounds young and knee replacements ' don't last forever. So it is good that the 3rd doctor is going to try and do the knee repair surgery. If is doesn't work out then she can have the surgery. always happy to hear an up date about your kids. How are you doing? getting enough sleep? bizi |
i think he was wise not consider payless anymore. i don't know what safeserv is. that would really be neat if he gets the job he wants.
so sorry about your sister and living with that pain. the third time could be a charm. sending prayers. love bobby |
Thank you ladies. My sis is just two years younger than me, which is 61
years old. She was the one that had back surgery last year. So I think she will do okay after this. Anyway I went to bed a little early last night, and I had a message from Derrick waiting on me this morning. He has an interview tomorrow in the afternoon at O'charley's he is excited. I'm glad he decided before offered the other job not to take it too. It just shows he thinks of all angles too.:grouphug: Donna Ps Most the time I'm getting plenty of sleep. And really busy so happy |
that all sounds so very great. i am swo glad you are getting plenty of sleep.
love bobby |
Happy for derrick!, happy for you!!
love bizi |
Donna, all the best to your Sister.
I hope Derrick's interview went well. Busy is good and sleeping well is better. :) |
Derrick called me about the time for his interview yesterday.
And I'm what this is too early. But turns out the interviewer was sick. So its rescheduled for tomorrow. But that is okay. Donna :grouphug: |
I hope derrick does well with the interview.
companies get rewarded for hiring some one handicapped. This may help him get hired. bizi |
He is waiting on a time and date for a 2nd interview. He is really ready
to get this job. So we will see. Donna |
