this must be so heart breaking for you. you have to take care of yourself first before you can take care of him....that is also such a heart breaking lesson and probably goes so against your grain. DON'T BE A HERO...

Thanks bizi, & thank you too Bobby, it is a real nightmare right now and he's about to get home from school, I just wanted to reply and say that I know the time is coming when he won't be able to stay with us, I just hope it's years away and not months you know? We've been telling him about Santa being able to see what he does and that Santa isn't happy with him right now, and if he wants presents for Christmas he better act nicer. We'll see how it goes today. I am sure he's tired from being up at 3:30 am again.

It's better he be a little calmer and able to slow down his impulses since he can't seem to control them now, then end up in a group home which is exactly where he's going to end up, I don't care anymore, I will not be his victim any longer.
Pam,
I am so sorry that you have these trials and days/ I can so remember the stress and strains when my daughter day after day hour after hour with her battles acted out. She was a grown adult,
Is there a side effect to the medications, or is it behavioral?

I had a doctor tell me my life has been easier that my daughter is gone from the behavioral problems...Pam, I would so much rather her here and acting out....I think everytime she acted out I would start to hug her, give a emotional surrounding of unconditional I love you...Like a newborn when they swadle them, as opposed to when I use to lose it and get stressed so that I could not function.
Not that any of it would help...mostly I am saying I would want her even with bad bahaviour then this emptiness.

I don't know. but a thought, if it is a release that is causing the outburst, I don;t know Jackies age...But with my kids were little, I would mimic the activity. Maybe see what it fel to them when someone does it from the receiving end.
I know there is so limited control, but just a little might click?????
Any kind of reduction.

I would get down on the floor, stomp, throw a book, so it was a mirror to the kiddo.
WE recently had a parent in our program in front of the intake counselor state that her child was told if they wanted to get on the floor and through a fit not to see dad.
LOl, I told the program director, fine I would get down throw a fit too.

Sorry, rattleing from lack of sleep,
But my prayers are with you, I so dearly hope things calm down.

Pam

YOu need to work on getting some respite time too. THis at least would
give you a outlet for him when he gets so bad that you need a break.

It could also be worked out were you might have hours a week or a weekend
maybe.

Not sure each state is different. And usually states have autism waivers.

((((((((((((((((((((((((((Pam))))))))))))))))))))) )))))))))))))))))))

Thinking of you. Hope you are having more peaceful time to yourself.

Is there places that he can go for a few hours a day to be with other children with autism? Maybe were there are things they can do and socialize with others, under the supervision of a professional that deals with children with autism?

Just a thought.

Doing better today, not happy we're going to be changing his meds around but I see no other choice, he's not stable and not happy with school and something needs done. I think his meds aren't working as well as they once did and so it's time to look at something else.

Wish us luck getting through this next few weeks, it's going to be hard, but not impossible.

Thanks for your support everyone, I have been pulling my hair out over this, and agonizing over it, but his pdoc is thinking it's the meds and time to change them well the abilify to something else...I don't know what else to think. Because we increased his abilfy and he developed akithisia...so something else needs to happen...Pray for us, for his pdoc to find the right combination of meds right away to make my little boy happy again.

Pam

Definately sending prayers your way. Medicines are definately something
hard to work with. But it does sound like its something to do with medications.

And if you can work this out it will really make life a lot easier wont it.

Now how old is he? And what medicines is he on now? If you don't mind.

We are all here to help you through this.

He is eleven, taking lamicatal for seizures, clonidine and abilify...I don't mind sharing what he takes because he was stable for a long while, it's too bad that abilify gave him akithisia when we'd increased it, he got worse not better, so I think we're definitely looking at changing his medication.

Heart

((((((Pam)))))),

His hormones might be starting to mess up the medication mix.

It's hard when you just get the meds all straightened out and then they stop working, isn't it

I hope you guys find a solution FAST that works with no side effects. I'll be glad when they find a cure for seizures.

Hugs. Have a nice day.
