Default Work colleague/ office mate again

Hello,
Monday morning a work friend called me at home to tell me that our supervisor had written a memo that my colleague was on his last legs -- the supervisor writes vague memos that we usually have to interpret as a group.

The short version:
I called the office mate's house and got his home health aid.
Apparently he was in the hospital last week because he had not been eating.
He is home now. When I called she had just gotten him to eat something and he was sleeping.

My boss is an idiot.

I am putting distance between myself and my colleague but gradually.
I'm still annoyed at him but less so.

M.
