Default Just got the free cell phone and feel so much more at ease...

I just feel like if I need help now I can phone for it. I really am grateful to the state for giving this device and the free minutes to me. I wish we could make it a federal program so all in need on food stamps or SSI could apply and get one, it's really made me feel like I am in control again, whereas I have always felt like when I go out in the car there are things beyond my control and I am at the mercy of events beyond my control, well now that still may hold true, but this phone will help me to cope with those unexpected events.

I am just so happy to have it! I can't tell you how exciting it was to set it up yesterday, DHL delivered it around 1pm and we took about an hour to set it up. I am amazed at how easy it is to use too, I expected it to be above my head honestly, but it's not. I am just tickled pink about this, so glad they had a public service announcement on this service that my Mother happened to see so we could get it BEFORE This trip to Washington DC in two weeks. I really feel much better about it now.

Anyone have any clue on how to go about starting a campaign to make this a FEDERAL program instead of just waiting for states to catch up state by state? I know the economy is bad right now, but that doesn't change the fact that if you're out here on public assistance you're probably driving an unreliable car and could experience a breakdown or something going wrong and need help but of course you can't afford a cell phone when you can't even save up to get the car fixed....I'd really like to see this program expanded...Any ideas anyone?

It's just cool how Mr. T is BIGGER then this phone....LOL!!! I should get some more pics of him up soon, have some on the camera but haven't got the software for it installed yet, should get this done before we leave. Hopefully.

Dear Pam,

This is so good --- to have a cell phone that makes you feel safer and more in control.

That's it totally Mari, I feel much more in control, I tested it yet again, away from the house calling home so I definitely am able to work the speed dialer and the phone works great! I just got back from a clothing closet place, put on by a wonderful baptist church, and though I didn't find any jackets or sweaters for Jack I found three pairs of pants that I am hoping will fit him!

I found some clothes for Jackie too, I am so happy to have had a good day of 'shopping' I am so happy there are places like this for families who have trouble buying clothes and other things. We got some new bedsheets and towels & toiletries. It's just wonderful to be able to go to this place, get some things and feel like you CAN dress nicely, it's great! So when I was done, that was when I tested out the phone again and found to my satisfaction it works pretty darn good!

I know bizi, it's coming up awful fast! Before we know it we'll be celebrating Halloween and Thanksgiving here in no time!

That is so awesome Pam!! That will be one less worry on your trip!

Thats also cool you were able to find some good buys! I thrift store shop alot! In fact, the family room is completely furnished with second hand store furniture! We refinished the wood on a couch, loveseat, chair set, and found the pillows and entertainment center at a garage sale. It looks really nice down there and we spent about $100 doing the entire room. (I love saving money lol)

I also buy up jeans and shirts when I find nice ones at the thrift shops. Nothing like spending a dollar vs. $35 for a pair of girls jeans. (my lord girls clothng is EXPENSIVE!!) The boys wear whatever and dont care; the girls like to be trendy lol. (which is fine as long as I can find trendy cheap stuff lol)

I usually end up spending $2.50 on jeans, but that's still much much better then $40 a pair. Thank goodness thrift stores have a lot of kid's clothes eh Bobi? I love saving money too!
