Smile Weekend Check In Time Saturday October 11

Hi,

How are you?

. . . not having my best week.
But I got through it.
Work troubles. Hubby troubles.

But also my friend just got a bid accepted on a foreclosed house.
She is very excited. She was looking about 16 months for something in her price range that was also decent to live in.

I had to see her twice this week late after work so she could talk. (I could have been sleeping!)

But I think that the house thing is stressful for me.
Hubby likes talking about houses but I want to rent -- less stuff to deal with.
In fact, until the election got close, all people talk about all the time here is the housing market.
. . . .really really really not interesting to me. Boring. Boring and stressful.

I think almost anything is stressful for me.
Pick a topic.

Time for bed so I can wake up cheerful.

Mari

ETA: Sorry for getting the date wrong in the title. Saturday is October 11 all day long.

Red face

Quote:
UGH!!!!!
I accidently drove into a ditch backing out of my friends drive way.
My cell phone road side assistance services don't include winching....I think I will cancel it and just get AAA.
I was freaking out....here I am in a rental waiting to have my car fixed and I have this happens to the rental. It could have been much worse!
Fortunately,
The car is just fine he pulled her right out!
Her drive way has a 2 car port and the drive way narrows down to one car width to the end of it. So I was parked behind one of the cars and just backed straight out instead of coming over....
My rear tire was 2 feet off the ground. I felt so stupid.
sigh...
the concert was wonderful.... Zachary Richard was great!
kind of like cajun rock.
waiting for hubby to call ...he played a concert tonight in corpus christi TX....he is teaching a masters class in the morning and then should be home tomorrow night.
My girl friend was great she calmed me down and fed me ice cream.

thought I would repost this here...I am tired and should be in bed but hubby never called so am worried about him.

Hi, Bizi,
That would have been better if you got his call.
He'll probably call tomorrow.

Oh bizi, I feel for you so much! It's just going to get better soon, hang in there. It's just got to get better for you soon. (((((hugs)))))

I agree Mari, talking about the housing market is beyond boring, I would fall asleep if people wanted to constantly discuss houses. Ugh...Hope with the holidays coming they stop the housing talking, and start up about family and holidays, that is always more interesting to me then HOUSES....LOL!!

As for me same old, same old, today is Mom's birthday and we're going out liek we always do on Saturdays to Wendy's and Walmart. Jackie is a little hyper this morning but he'll be a good boy. He's always good for us when we go out. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

My husband worked late last night to catch up on some work he'd missed since hospitalising our neice; and came back home and told me to sit down. He was shaking. He told me that the company is downsizing because of budget increases and said that he has the choice of a severence check or a transfer to upstate NEW YORK!!!

If he takes the transfer he would have to report in 3 months. I'm freaking out. And he's worrying about finding another job with a different company because he's been with his one for 12 years, and with the economy going to hell in a handbasket hes worried that he'd be the first to go during another downsize with a new company since hed be low man on the totem pole.

The CIO really values him as an employee; which is why he is being offered the move instead of being handed a severence check (which he was told is happening to a few on Monday) But how the hell do we move?? And in 3 months??? That means I am going to have to leave my job - the kids will have to leave their doctor and counselor, as well as the school where 3 of mine go! Its a wonderful charter! We'll have to sell our home and buy a new one in an area where the home we paid $145k for would sell for $400k minimum. (Although his salary will be adjusted for the cost of living; and they will cover the closing costs and moving expenses)

Even with the economy crapping out I'm not worried about our home selling fast as this area was not hit like the rest of the country; but buying another one with rates the way they are is scary. Not to mention its NEW YORK!!!

Hubby took the kids out for pizza a little while ago so I could stay home and freak out in peace and try to think things through. GAH!

WOW that's a lot to swallow! I don't know what I would do in this situation, probably freak out and end up moving. Sheesh, I can't imagine how hard this would be to deal with. You have my sympathy Bobi.

We will end up moving too. I just don't even know where to start! We are established here; have family here; medical staff and school; my job; hell, our LIVES!

We havn't said a word to the kids yet. I'm not even sure where to begin! I will have to contact a realtor here, give notice to my job, start looking at schools and areas to live close to where James will work, and figure out how to screen a new doctor and have him in place before we actually move. 3 months is an extremely short amount of time. James has spent a lot of time at the home company so he is more familiar with the area - I've only gone once. There are a ton of details that are going to have to be worked out with his company as well. James said that they will sign a 5-year contract with him if he moves since its going to be expensive all around, and that they will work out the new salary and things before its on paper. I highly doubt I'm going to be working for quite awhile as this is going to be the adjustment ffrom hell for all of us.

3 months....good lord. We knew that a lot of changes were in the works, and James knew they were planning on downsizing the local branch, but there was NO indication of CLOSING this branch and moving us clear across the country! (at least not that he told me. knowing him he probably just didnt say anything until it was in stone because he knew i'd freak out) I feel so sick.

and im rambling and probably not making a lot of sense. Sorry, my mind is going 500 mph.

Unhappy

OMG
bobi, what a shock.
I cna't imagine what all you have to do.
Would homeschooling be better for the kids instead of sticking them in schools half way thru the semester?
What a lot to think about...
I am sorry, you must just be shocked.

Heart

Dear Bobi,

Take deep breaths.
Whatever you and your husband do will work out for you.
And you have time to think about this.

I have a beloved family member who lives in
Beacon, New York. It is lovely.
Here are some pictures I found doing a google search.
Scroll down on the blog:
http://jstheater.blogspot.com/2007/0...osis-talk.html

West Point is in upstate NY and it is absolutely beautiful.
That part of NY is famous for its brownies -- I kid you not.
And pizza! New York pizza is fabulous.
Fishing, hiking, . . . all of that is good.

How far UPstate? (PM maybe if you want)
I heard that the cost of living in Buffalo is cheap.

New York has very good public schools. I'm serious.
I have family who work in them.

Here are some links about their charter schools:
http://www.greatschools.net/modperl/go/NY

http://www.newyorkcharters.org/

The schools in New York City stink big because the city pays their teachers very poorly and they have big organizational problems. But you won't be in the city.

They have good drs there -- really.

The problem I would have is two fold
1) it is cold
2) it is an old part of the country and every thing looks old compared to where I live now. Here we tear down a building after 25 years and put up a bigger one.
Lots of people here live in brand new houses.
So going to New York feels like going back in time.

You can deal with cold weather.
And you'll love the beauty of New York.
http://www.kimberleefoster.com/images/adx-hiking.jpg

http://www.kimberleefoster.com/images/adx.jpg

(I've got no idea how to drop the pics into this post -- I can put in links.)

People in upstate vote conservative / republcian, if you remember. It is probably a lot like where you live now in terms of people.

The accent will be different.
But upstate is not like the City or like Long Island.

You know that I moved every year or so until I got to middle school because of the military. We kids did fine with the moving. That was the one part of the way I grew up that worked out well for me. Seriously.

Breathe.
He has a job.
That's the important thing.
He can provide for all 6 of you.
That is a very good thing.
