Default Not Sleeping

You know, after 12 years of dealing with being Bipolar, mixed with Panic Disorder, and various other little mood disorder fragments, if you will, I wonder at this point what it would be like to be able to have a decent night of sleep. I have not slept in 5 days, my doctor has been racking her brain and prescribing med after med, or in conjunction with another type of med, to get me to sleep. Believe me, I've tried all the cognitive behavioral stuff, and more, and nothing seems to be working right now. I am new to the forum, but not new to the disease and I know that if I continue with sleepless nights, then the mania will soon be knocking on the front door. Tonight I'm to try ambien again, with trazedone, remeron and a healthy dose of klonopin. So I guess we'll see what happens. Wish me luck.

Hi Mickeycbee!!

Welcome to Neurotalk!!!

I'm relatively new to the BP world.... newly diagnosed that is, but I understand the not sleeping... my personal record is 17 days of NO sleep. I'm just now beginning to recognize a little when changes are starting to occur...mania/depression.

I hope you get some sleep soon (preferably tonight).

Best wishes and Good luck!!!

Abbie

Welcome,

I feel for you not sleeping. It's terrible. Have you ever tried Loxatane? That is about the only thing out there that helps me sleep but yet it is an anti-psychotic. It slows down my thinking and then comes sleep. If you can't sleep tonight and feel like chatting I should be back on later.

Welcome and good luck on the sleeping.

I'm not sure how to help with that.

Hi Mickey and welcome to the forums!,
I am so sorry that you are not sleeping.
I know how frustrated you must feel.....
Will you call your pdoc if you can't get to sleep this weekend
Have you tried haldol before?
I know that you have to sleep....what meds would work on you if you were to become manic?....It sounds like you are already heading there.
I am sorry.
Can you call your pdoc tomorrow?
(((((HUGS)))))

Wow, I am in awe of the way some of you function after getting
so little sleep.

I know at times, I don't sleep much either. But I always have a
reason, and its never insomnia like yours.

Well I have an occasional night I can't sleep, but usually because
I slept to late during the day. Or took to much of a nap.

really? I sleep good! Like real GOOD! I am bp1 and I am just a great sleeper. But I am also not treated at the moment because they are deciding what they are going to do with me But at the moment my sleep is good.

But I do recall having issues sleeping before when I only new I had panic disorder. What is causing you to me so worried? Do you need to relax? I had to like put my phone on silent continuously. I had to like do a lot of relaxations practices like Yoga and zen meditation music, lavender oils and pepermint oils.

Yeah Have you tried different relaxation techniques? Medication can be helpful but you sound like you need some activity of relaxation.
