my first thought was food poisoning - when you said it hit so fast after a dinner out.

You might call and ask if anyone else got ill that was at dinner with you?
Or call the place you went to and ask if anyone reported feeling ill after eating there. I'm assuming a restaurant here.

I always nibble on saltine crackers, drink flat or nearly flat clear soda {sprite or 7 Up} then slowly start back with soft foods poached egg, applesauce, plain toast, bananas, rice,
and of course plenty of water to keep hydrated.
After the worst is over -a long warm bath soothes the sore muscles.
