Trig 100 mg? Messing me up? how can this be?

The 100 mg is doing ok I guess, however I feel like I am totally unbalanced. I feel like I cry for stupid reasons. My emotions were so wack yesterday and now today. I was watching the Obama thing on TV and I was going to cry over that. So I turned away from it. And then friend wrote a nice touching letter and I was going to cry over that because I felt sooo LOVED. (well I did cry over it because it was so nice and touching) I am not pregnant or anything, but shoot! You would not be able tell with these emotional roller coasters I have been going through these past few days. Yesterday I was in Accounting class and I was so upset because everyone else got the material except for me that I left the classroom as calm as can be then when I closed the door, I started to cry. I felt like I was nothing more but a screw up in life. And that I am not good at anything and stuff like that. I gave myself a pity party yesterday I guess that is what you call it.
But yeah I just started the 100mg like two days so it is probably too soon to tell if it is the meds or me just being a panzie But I love my meds a lot! Perhaps it is the time of month who knows. But I have not had this emotional roller coaster like this in ages. But I at least do not feel miserable. But anything that is sweet or nice makes me want to cry. I HATE THAT! LOL

How are you doing today? The Lamictal takes weeks to get into your system, it is upped each week - 25mg. So, you need to give it time.

I know how that feels to cry at the drop of a hat, it is so hard to control.

Maybe your p-doc can give you something to get over the bump for anxiety until the Lamictal is at its peak, in your system

Are you on any anti-depressant????
Hugs, Nikko

I am not on any anti depressant because they make me a bit loopy. Well at least perhaps I was on the wrong ones. But I do not want to go through the mania again. It was horrible. I am happy on my Lamictal. I do get sad but I am not too depressed. I do not desire to kill myself or anything. So there is no need to be on anti depressants right? I have BAD experiences with anti depressants.

If I continue crying like this than I will contact her. My period is suppose to be coming soon. So I am doing well right now I no longer feel sad. I feel like I had a better day. But I did not do my homework for accounting. LOL so that makes it better too!

Default Sharla... no i don't think you need an AD

From what you have said, anti-depressants tend to do you more harm than good. That is the case for some bipolars. Indeed, if you are not severely depressed as you noted, there is not even really a call for them. They tend to be over-prescribed for bipolars and put us into rapid cycling when we were normal cyclers, or switch us into mania. i.e. they can worsen the overall course of our illness. Of course, in some cases with severe depression, they can be a real asset, but it does depend on the individual. If you tend to swing into mania quickly with them, althemore reason to stay away. The more frequently you switch, the worse it is for your brain... it "learns."

100 mg Lamictal is not typically the full dose. usually 200 daily is the target, but it is titrated slowly, by 25mg at a time. the reason for that is to have a better chance at catching possible side effects early. It is especially important with people who tend to respond to lower than typical doses or who have allergies and/or sensitivity to other meds. However, this slow titration is not observed in Europe. technically, the med can be increased faster if there is clinical need. (Of course, if you are one of the sensitive ones, then prudence and patience are better).

i too get very sensitive and even quite depressed before my period, so it is good to factor that in. the way you described your mood seems consistent with that.

I agree that you should call your pdoc if you don't feel better once your cycle starts. I'm glad you had a better day today Every moment counts, right!

Hang in there!
