Default New Dentist said to take Omega 3s for good gum help

HI,
I went to a new dental office Monday for a cleaning.
Afterwards, I asked the dentist if there were any supplements I could be taking to keep gums healthy.

First he said, "No." Then he said, "Omega 3s/ Fish oil."
He said that we should all be taking Omega 3 but he does not always take it. I told him that I am already taking it (re-started about a month ago.)

The dentist said that I have good gums.
I'll take my good news wherever I can find it.

M.

PS. Does anybody wonder if there is enough fish oil in the oceans and fish farms of the word to keep all of us supplied in fish oil?

Mari, it sounds like you had a good dentist visit. I've heard so much about how good omega3 is for a person. Do you notice a difference when you take it?

How interesting!
Which one are you taking Mari?
I wonder which one is best for Bipolar and TEETH???? What a weird sentence, huh?
I take Carlsons Brand...expensive, but so many people like it.
Heard OmegaBrite was good for ADD.
Mrs. D knows of good ones...talks about several on the vitamin site.
Seems the Omega 3's are good for many, many things.
BTW, you can get it in your eggs and other foods...just a little "extra" to add to the mix.
Be well.

Also important:

CoQ-10
Vit C
zinc
adequate protein intake.

The tissues in the mouth regenerate every 24 hrs...hence they are very needful of nutrients.

Omega-3s make the lining of the stomach and lungs too.
Fish oil is basically anti-inflammatory. For best results add Flax oil into the mix, as it is better for targeting skin/tissue.
There are many food sources available now for flax if you don't want to use the capsules.

Glad you had a good dentist appt Mari. I hate the dentist. But what he told me green tea was also good for your gums. It's too hot to drink hot tea so I'm drinking green tea Snapple. I hope it counts.

this reminds me that I had a client of mine today who brushed her teeth and flossed too hard. she basically lost her gums and had to have them grafted from a donor.
I am going to brush very gently from now on. mine are starting to receed a bit.

Default Hey everyone

Another person in the dental forum said that Xylitol,is good for your teeth. It's a natural sugar that is found in corn cobbs, and other things.

XyloSweet is one source of Xylitol, and,"Ideal"No calorie sweetener is another. They even make a chewing gum out of it.

This is all knew to me. I've been researching it tonight. This has been recommended to me because I have"Dry mouth" after I take seroquel. I had the beginnings of 9 cavities where my gums, and my teeth come together. BF

I just found out that"Ideal",no calorie sweetner, has sucralose, which is in the same family as DDT.

"Xylosweet" is the safe sweetner, and good for the teeth. BF

It's got to be pure Xylitol, like what's in XyloSweet, that is good for your teeth, and fights bacteria.

I've been researching it again tonight. That Trident Xtra care gum has less then 2% Aspartame. Less then 2% percent to what? It's got Xylitol, and several other things.

Gosh! We have to read the fine print on everything. BF
