It's slowed down today, but I swear last night it was BAD, She said if I went through one an hour to worry and go to the ER, so if it starts up like that again I will probably have to go. I don't know what they will do for me but it's really bad. I am going to call to talk to the NP I spoke with last week and tell her it's not getting better yet. Maybe she can do something else for me like a new rx of BC Pills...I don't know, but something has to help and fast! I am sick of waking up at 3-4 am and having to get up to change pads or tampons. :(

Dmom3005 08-16-2009 02:56 PM

Pam

Please call, its also possible that they might be able to check and see if
they had a cancellation and can get you in earlier.

But if you don't keep calling and letting the office know how important
it is. And that you are just trying to figure out what to do. They personally
have no clue.

I'm really hoping you get some answers.

Donna

Pamster 08-16-2009 03:58 PM

me too Donna, me too. I will call tomorrow and hope for the best. :)

I think that will need something more than BC pills. They take time and they are not all that strong on a day to day to basis.

Keep hollering and get someone to take you seriously.

In the meantime, keep stress low.
Maintain equilibrium.

Here's something logical I found on the internet:

Unless your doctor specifically advises otherwise, never take aspirin while you are menstruating. Aspirin can cause bleeding to occur longer
I would not have thought of that.

I am going to the ER tomorrow, morning, I just am not up to it today because of how it was Jackie's first day back at school and I had to get him to his speech therapy. I really want to take cre of myself, so tomorrow I am devoting to this, Mom will take me and will be here bright and early, and we're heading off to the ER. I was afraid of driving myself there and getting admitted and them going and doing something like a D&C or something and then not being able to drive home. So she had stuff going on today, and tomorrow she's got open....

It's really got to get taken care of soon, I am sick of sanitary napkins and tampons. :( I called today and spoke to the front desk person at the health dept and the new oby gyn doc I am gonna see in three weeks, but they just told me that the NP was out til thursday and if I was worried to go to the ER so I am definitely going tomorrow, so one more uncomfortable night and hopefully some relief somehow tomorrow.

Dmom3005 08-17-2009 09:23 PM

Sounds like the best solution Pam.

Will be thinking about you tomorrow.

Donna

Mari 08-18-2009 03:12 AM

Dear Pam,

Post when you get back.
They will take good care of you.

Try to stay at peace and be patient with the process (hospitals, rules, nurses, .. . ).

Pamster 08-18-2009 03:16 PM

Well three hours in the ER, not too bad. SEVEN vials of blood and I am anemic now. :( Just barely but still it's bad. I was given stronger birth control pills, so we'll see what happens, he wants me to take TWO today and TWO tomorrow and then ONE in the mornings from there on out. I hope this helps, I am so sick of the messiness. :(

Dmom3005 08-18-2009 04:22 PM

Pam

What did he tell you to do about the anemicness. I know its also important
to get on the right kind of iron for this too.

Donna

Mari 08-18-2009 05:51 PM

Dear Pam,
Three hours is not too bad.
I hope that this works out for you.
M.

Pamster 08-18-2009 06:00 PM

He told me to drink more fluids and to take an multi vitamin. So I am going to do both things. I am happy to report the bleeding has FINALLY slowed down, I think I will sleep fine tonight. HURRAY! :D

Mari 08-18-2009 06:07 PM

Dear Pam,
It sounds like you are on your way back to being ok.
You still have a gyn appointment coming up soon -- is that right?

M.

Foods high in iron

-Liver and other meats
-Seafood
-Dried fruits like apricots, prunes and raisins
-Nuts
-Beans, especially lima beans
-Green leafy vegetables, such as spinach and broccoli
-Blackstrap molasses
-Whole grains
-Iron-fortified breads and cereals (check the label)

Taking vitamin C pills or eating foods high in vitamin C, such as citrus fruits or juice, at the same time you eat iron-rich foods or take your iron pill can help your body absorb the iron better.

Some foods block the absorption of iron. These include coffee, tea, egg yolks, milk, fiber and soy protein. Try to avoid these when you're eating food high in iron.

Pamster 08-18-2009 06:12 PM

Yup sept. 4th. WIll be the first time I see her too, so I hope she's willing to schedule ablation and removal of the bad ovary when we meet at that first appt. If not I am gonna seriously be a little disappointed and ask WHY, won't let this slide, it needs doing ASAP...

BJ 08-18-2009 06:47 PM

I'm so glad this has finally slowed down for you Pam. I hope you can get in and get this taken care of ASAP.

You know what else is good for low iron...watermelon. Watermelon is the 'iron fruit'. I don't remember why though.

Pamster 08-18-2009 08:15 PM

Thanks BJ, I will have to snag some watermelon while they are still in season, I didn't know that about them. :D

It's good to see you, I am not gonna let the oby/gyn doc leave the room without telling me she's gonna DO the ovary cyst removal and hopefully the ablation too, because I do NOT want to stay on BC pills you know? :p

Dmom3005 08-19-2009 02:05 AM

BJ thanks from me too for the watermelon is high in iron.

I am on iron supplements, but I still can't get enough.
So I really watch and try to get a couple of foods a day to help.

And I've been craving watermelon. Now I think I know why.
I want it when I feel really tired and upset. And that is usually
when my iron is dangerously low.

Sorry Pam, Didn't mean to hijack on you.
But I can totally understand wanting this thing gone. Good luck.

Pamster 08-19-2009 05:43 PM

I don't think you hikacked the thread at all Donna. ;) :D

I think I've STOPPED bleeding though!!! HURRAY! :D

bizi 08-19-2009 08:49 PM

hurray!!!!!:yahoo:

Pamster 08-20-2009 06:49 AM

I know it's a Glorious day! I have stopped the flow with these stronger BC Pills. HURRAY! SO happy! :D

Dmom3005 08-20-2009 11:11 PM

WOw, that was one great ER doctor.

You now know who to see. I wouldn't go again unless he was on call, if it
was for this.

eheehee

Donna

Pamster 08-21-2009 06:15 AM

Dangit, it's back, I am so sick of it! I don't know what to do! If it's going to be as heavy as it was before I am going to be stuck near the bathroom yet again! I am so TICKED OFF about this!

Mari 08-21-2009 07:58 AM

Pam,
What do the discharge papers say from the ER?
Are you supposed to follow up with your other doc/ gyn?

Or do you go back to the ER?

It's possible that the regular doc would send you to the ER.

Mari

Dmom3005 08-21-2009 09:28 AM

Pam

If it starts getting that heavy I would definately go back to the ER.

For one thing it seems to have disappeared if I remember right when
you took extra of the BC pills right. So you need to go back and
see the doctor again.

Its also possible they would call in a OB-GYN to the ER to see if
it constitutes a emergency. THis is what I would try at least.

It sounds like one to me.

Donna:grouphug:

Pamster 08-21-2009 11:12 AM

If it gets as heavy as before I am going back, they wanted me to follow up with my dr and the nurse practitioner which I did YESTERDAY before this started up again this morning. I am so frustrated. :(

bizi 08-21-2009 01:07 PM

I would call your nurse practioner and discuss this with her/him.
it is friday and sometimes the offices are closed on friday afternoons but there is always someone on call.
bizi

Pamster 08-21-2009 03:28 PM

It's slowed back down it was just heavy this morning, so it's backto almost nothing. Hopefully it won't happen again, they really don't have anyone on call at the health dept. *Sigh* Oh well, I just have to wait, will go to ER again if I have to. :(

Pamster 08-23-2009 07:02 PM

I think I am gonna call my regular dr tomorrow and BEG for something stronger to shut off this bleeding...I don't want to go to the ER again, and I can't wait til thursday when the NP is in the health dept. I am so sick of bleeding...I am getting weaker every day. :(

Dmom3005 08-23-2009 11:51 PM

Good idea to call your regular doctor today.

Sending you some hugs.

Donna

Pamster 08-24-2009 12:45 PM

Called at 8:05 am today. Still nothing called in yet. I just can't believe that this is happening STILL. If I don't get some relief soon I am going BACK to the ER. :(

bizi 08-24-2009 09:17 PM

I hope you have gotten some treatment...post when you can.
(((((HUGS)))))
bizi

Mari 08-25-2009 02:29 AM

Dear Pam,
I am pulling for you to get this straightened out soon.
I guess you are going through a process -- can't get it all done once and be done with it.
Stay patient and stay focused. The docs will soon get it together for you.
M.

Pamster 08-25-2009 02:16 PM

my regualr doc is out of town, I saw his partner today. I am so tired. I was there from 9am til about noon. Beats going to the ER though, it was nice. he was really nice, but he thinks I need a hysterectomy and that the cyst in the ovary is no big deal because it's most likely NOT cancerous. I feel so sick. So weak. so tired. this is really taking its toll on me. *sob*

He doubled my provera back up to 20 mgs because it had worked to control the bleeding at that level, so crossing my fingers that this will do the trick. :(

Mari 08-25-2009 03:18 PM

Dear Pam,
I hope it does the trick.
And I hope you see the gyn soon.
M.

Pamster 08-25-2009 03:25 PM

THanks Mari, I feel a little better now, I see the gyn the 4th so I am really READAY to see her...I'll keep you all posted on how this new dosage goes, hopefully it will stop the bleeding tomorrow or THursday. :D I definitley feel better now. :)

Dmom3005 08-25-2009 05:32 PM

Pam

Sending you some hugs. Hoping things get better.

Donna

Pamster 08-25-2009 05:52 PM

It's easing up finally! I am so happy it's letting up! Thank heavens! And just after taking the second pill at noon when I got home, wow, this is gonna work! :D

bizi 08-25-2009 10:49 PM

Hey pammie,
I am glad that you were able to get your dose back ....how do you feel about a hysterectomy?
bizi

Pamster 08-26-2009 08:04 AM

I am all for it, I want this to stop, I don't think ablation is gonna do it though, I think the oby/gyn will reccommend a hysterectomy frankly and I just need to get through it somehow. It's not gonna be easy but I think I need to get it done...I started bleeding again at bedtime, so SICK of it!

bizi 08-26-2009 10:25 PM

(((((HUGS)))))
the ablation is supposed to stop it right?
bizi

Pamster 08-26-2009 10:36 PM

Yes it is supposed to stop the bleeding, it burns off the uterine lining so you stop having periods. It's slowed down again, so we'll see, a tampon lasted me about four hours today. :D
