Love how you are handling things!~
It is not easy to get off Lorazepam, and I am SO HAPPY that Buspar is working so well for you. Sounds like you are handling the self-downward-titration so very well. No one can do it for us, huh? I have not heard of hormones causing a manic episode in the case of BP II. Of course, there are a lot of things I have not heard of, but it sounds like you are doing the right thing. You reiterate that you do not want to be pregnant at the time of the surgery, and this I understand. So - sounds like the choice is made, although, if you have time, the birth-control pills above-mentioned might offer an alternative. I know you will feel better after the surgery. If you've not had surgery before, just count backwards from 100 to about 96, and then you wake up in recovery, full of pain meds and walking in tall clover! Yes, there is pain later, but it's more soreness than the pain you have now, and the pain meds are titrated down to discontinuation, you get stitches out sometimes, and that's that. Blessing and Best of Outcomes to You, Pamster! billie

Still here for you. I didn't have a full hysterectomy. Or I don't think so. Honestly have no idea. But know that I'm much happier without my ovaries. And love the fact I have no bleeding. But was warned I still might some. Was totally lucky there. Donna |

You might not need the hysterectomy, More than one doc will be involved in helping you with the information and the decision. I sure hope that someone gets you where you need to be soon. This seems like it is taking to long to work out -- maybe I'm being too impatient -- so sorry about that  In the meantime what are they telling you about iron and fluid levels? M. |
Thank you Billie for posting, I can hardly wait to see what is going to happen when I see the Gyn dr next week. I have to get the ultrasound film for her and the dr's office is gonna have all the blood work results for her that we've done this week so she can look those over. I went in to the dr office yesterday and we talked about hospitalization and he understood that I really don't wanna go there if we can avoid it and so far we've been able to dodge that particular bullet. :)
THanks Donna, I am glad you're still here, I read the new thread you posted but am just so tired I can't post a thoughtful reply at the moment, look for one soon. I am really tired from the blood loss. But I know things could be worse, I thought I was a nine on the anemia scale but I am really an 11.2 which is down from 12 but it's not that bad...yet... Thanks Mari for thinking of me, I am freakin' impatient too, this is driving me up a wall to be honest. They told me to keep drinking lots of fluids and to take a multivitamin with iron so I have been. Hopefully it's going to go well when I see her the 4th, I need to just relax and try to take it easy, thank God kiddo is back in school, he's doing great so far, he loves his new teacher and class, he's with older kids now and doing really well. I think the gyn dr will either advise the ablation procedure or a hysterectomy. Either thing I am fine with at this point, I can't go on bleeding like this any longer it's just really bad. :( I cancelled my dental extraction appt, rescheduled for October, I just cannot see having a tooth pulled three days before I see this gyn dr, I am anxious enough without worrying about this broken tooth being yanked and having to be drilled out you know? Anyway, thanks so much for caring everyone, I really appreciate your encouragement and support. :grouphug: |
sending some patience your way.....

I am NOT bleeding anymore! My regular dr lit a fire under the Gyn dr and she took FULL care of me yesterday! Emergency D & C & Endomentrial Ablation! IT went really well, she said she got rid of a LOT of polyps, that is what was causing the bleeding too. I feel awful in the guts and my lower back but they took great care of me yesterday. My ordeal is hopefully over. No hysterectomy unless this ablation fails and I start bleeding again. I got down to a 10.7 on the hemoglobin count as of yesterday. I have a long story to tell but too tired right now so I will post more later, just wanted to let you all know it's better now and I am NOT bleeding anymore. :)

Dear Pam,
Thanks for the post. I'm glad you regular doc got some stuff done and it seems that they gyn took care of you. Rest. M. |
More in depth about my wonderful day yesterday
At my dr appt two days ago, my doc told me he wanted me to
call at 10 am yesterday, so I ate some cornflakes around 9am and laid on the couch, then HE called at 10:15 because I hadn't....He had news for me, that he'd gotten through to the oby/gyn doc and she'd agreed to perform an emergency D & C on me sooner rather then later. I was like, "Okay good, when this weekend?" And he was like "No, today...We're looking to book the OR at the hospital later this afternoon." So naturally I freaked, but I knew it had to happen. So he told me SHE would be calling in a short while and that they would probably do it around 3-4 today... Well we got off the phone after about ten minutes, and I waited for the oby/gyn to call and she did about ten minutes later. She was very nice, and told me that they were looking to book the OR today around 3:30 and that she'd call me back after setting up an appt for me at the health dept around 1pm and getting the OR booked for today. So we hung up and then she called back to let me know that they were going to be ready for me at the health dept at 1pm and at the hospital surgery center around 4:30pm. I was kinda freaked, but I knew once again, that this is the only way my problem would be taken care of. So we went to the pain mangement appt I had at 11:30, talked to doc there and he wrote me a script with 4 pain pills a day instead of 3 because I told him how much pain I have been in and how I haven't been sleeping well. Along with the emergency procedure they were doing on me today. He had no problem with helping me. Great docs I have all around, I feel very grateful. VERY grateful. So we dropped off the rx at the pharmacy and then went to the health dept. We were a little early, about 40 minutes early and the doors were locked so we sat outside remarking on how it wasn't blistering hot and that it had been a mild August so far compared to June when we'd been into the triple digits tempwise. So then they unlocked the doors and we went inside and I folled out the paperwork for 'a new patient' since I hadn't seen this dr yet, and we waited. They let mom go back with me and then we talked with the oby/gyn doc for about twenty-five minutes, then she did a baginal exam and told me that because they had done a biopsy and ruled out cancer she wanted to do endomentrial ablation on top of a D&C and so I agreed it would be fine to do today because it would STOP my menstral bleeding hopefully forever. And that's pretty damned attractive if you ask me after bleeding for over a month....So she told me to go to the surgical center at the hospital and that she would be there when she was donw with her day at the health dept. Overall I think she spent about 45 minutes with us. So Mom had something to eat, I sat there and drank a few sips of sprite to get my noon meds down since they had told me it was fine to take them. Because I had emergency surgery going on they had to do the presurgical appt before they did the preop stuff like set the IV and what not. It took about 35 minutes to get all that done, and I spoke to the Anesthesiologist too, she told me that they were going to give me General Anesthesia and I was fine with it, signed the consent and we were set up. My veins did NOT want to get an IV though and the nurse failed the first attempt and my hand puffed up big time....The Anesthesiologist had to do it in the preop area and that was fine, she got it in and it was fine, HURT like a MO FO going in and it took her two tries, and mom said she saw my vein like drop down when the needle was just above the skin, she said had she not seen it with her own eyes she'd have thought it impossible, we joked and laughed about things for about an hour while the dr was on the way there, and it was nice. We both had a major flashback, to the accident night, at the exact same time, we both just started crying and got serious, but things lightened back up because you can't keep us down, not when this was a GOOD thing that would FIX my problem. No, things fell into place perfectly yesterday and I was beyond grateful to everyone who'd made it happen. The surgery went well, they found a *edit* of uterine polyps and the D&C dealt with them, and then she did the ablation, and made sure to get it all before calling it finito. She went to talk to my mom and it was weird, like right as the doors to the OR closed I woke up and started talking. They told me I wouldn't remember it but I do. They told me I might be nauseous but I wasn't. I was fine except for the pain levels being up to a 9 on the 10 scale, it was THAT intense, I said to them it was like after having my son, that intense... I took my pain pill when they moved me back by Mom and it was about 8:45 when we left. And I had had about half of an apply muffin and two sprites, so that worked out well, I was able to wait until I got home to eat. My son's dad had cooked deep fried chicken, deep fried mushcrooms and corn with fries. He'd saved me a plate and I was ready to eat it when mom left me there at the apartment. He'd done all the dishes and the kitchen was sparkling. He was so great yesterday, really awesome. He told me not to worry that he'd take care of our son and he totally did. It worked out just fine and if all goes well, I probably will NOT need a hysterectomy. So that's how it went yesterday, I am so happy to report that I am NO LONGER bleeding at all, and things are probably going to get better from here. Thank God and Thanks to my decent doctors all of whom worked hard to make me comfortable through this process. :) |
wow!
thank you for the update. You do have a great team of professionals working for you.... That is priceless. I am so happy for you taht they got you in and did those procedures and that you are home hopefully the pain meds are working...I am sure it was painful. I hope you can sleep tonight! you deserve some relief. ((((HUGS)))) bizi |
Thanks Beth, I feel great remarkably, even though I have some cramping it's nothing like it was when I woke up before I took a pain med. I am definitely going to sleep tonight. :D I am so glad things worked out the way they did yesterday, it was hard going wtihout eating or drinking all day, but I knew it was for a purpose so I forced myself to get through it. :D
 for all you're going though Beth. |
I have a stinkin' Urinary Tract Infection from the surgery. It hurts like heck and my dr told me to go to the ER last night. He was worried I had developed a deep body infection from surgery but it turned out only to be a UTI but man am I sick of having to go to the hospital. I was ready for bed last night and yesterday had a fever of 102.4 had taken a 800 mg ibuprofen and was about 99.9 when dr finally called back. We (yes my poor mom and I went, Jackie was already asleep and there was not any way I was waking him up and dragging him and Jack to the ER.) headed off to the ER and got there around 10:30 pm, we got out by Midnight. It wasn't awful, the dr was nice, and my regular dr knew him so he called to give some history to him so they knew I was coming in when I got there. It worked out well enough. Still GLAD they didn't admit me and make me stay. What a week, heck, what a MONTH!

I have to tell you though when I first came in this morning before I read your news. I was going to post, Pam, its just 5 more days to the OB-GYN. I love the news you had so much more. And I love your own personal private doc too. I think you need to send him a thank you card. Please send it from all your internet friends. Heehee, tell him we were all so worried about you he made our day. Donna:grouphug: |

Pam. I am liking that doc too. He is watching out for you. That is good. M. |
Thanks Beth, Donna and Mari! You all have been so supportive through this unbelievably rough time. I don't know what I'd do without your support. And your shoulders to cry on. It's been so rough. Thank GOD the gyno did the surgery, STILL NOT bleeding! :D
If I had the energy I'd bake his office staff cookies, I swear, they have done everything they can do for me and more. :) I am really lucky to have such a great dr. :D |
Pam
I don't think there is a hurry on the cookies for the staff and doctor. Donna |
Totally not, they have been so good to me. I will have to see how it goes and do something nice for them. :) I go in today. Ugh, had more lab work too. :p

Thanks Mari, I am resting now, I colored my hair a bit ago and it came out subtle, I think I have a little hypo mania going on right now because I am so happy to NOT be bleeding and I wanted to lighten my hair, so it's nice I got it done before the Dr. appt today. :)
Will report later about the Dr appt. :) |
