Hurray!! One of my all-time favorite books! I'm certainly not saying I understood it all, even after rereading parts of it several times. But I got the jist of it. It explained some things that I never knew (the behavior of photons, for example). Mostly it gave me a sense of wonder and outrageous beauty of our universe, starting on a subatomic level. I've learned, too, how any effect on their minutist particle affects everything. It opened my eyes to a profound appreciate of how it all works. Love it forever! Linda

Default The Red Tent

The Red Tent, by Anita Diamant, is my current favorite, till I have a new one. Maybe the one I'm reading now, "Sarah's Key", by Tatiana de Rosnay.

The Red Tent is a wonderful novel about, Dinah, a daughter of Jacob and Leah, who becomes a midwife. It's an engrossing Old Testament background with a story told about women, babies, and life, from their point of view. Dripping with estrogen! I used to be an OB/GYN/NSY nurse and that setting always attracts me. I feel that I'm right there, and understanding what's going on. Highly recomended to those interested the sisterhood of women and or simply looking for an engrossing and informative read. Linda

I just got Janet Evanoviches lastest work. I rent for free from the local library online, so sometimes you have to wait in line to get goodies, but its worth it to have it for free. I am not a girl that rents books over and over and over. I hear it once, and I am happy.

So while I clean, I listen. I have listened to perhaps 1,000 + books since in the past 8 years. It keeps my mind occupied and makes my job goby better. Il ove it!

Default These books have issues.

My favorite books are about problems. Maybe cause I like reassurance that problems exist outside my own skull, be they fictional or not (a selfish outlook, I know. I don't have schadenfreude about everything, but I do like to see minor everyday disasters on occasion).

The last book I read that left the biggest impact was Geek Love, by Katherine Dunn. It was incredible. Surreal, fascinating, disgusting, psychologically insane, funny, tearjerking....overwhelming. But in a good way. If you're up for some good crazy, I suggest giving it a try.

I'm currently reading Valerie and her Week of Wonders, but my mind has been wandering of late, and it's difficult to concentrate. I'm praying my brainwaves will settle down so reading can be a comfort again.

I really want to read the book The Help. It's been made into a movie now but I want to read the book before I see the movie. Anyone here read it?

Yep, read The Help and loved it. Not sure I want to see the movie after watching the preview of it...not at all what my mind had pictured!

Thanks Alffe! I love reading the books more than watching the movies. I guess with the book I get to choose what things look and sound like.
