Oh yes.

If you ever get the chance to watch it, Martin Clunes had a series called
"Islands of Britain". It was exceptional.

Another documentary I really loved watching recently was "The History of Scotland" with Neil Oliver. He also did "Coast".

Okay, I found Doc Martin on our PBS station at 7pm. So I watched my first episode.

It was really quirky! His baby is very cute, and there was a scene with him reading a medical journal to it.. has to be 3 mos old tops! The baby started smiling and laughing! It was a great scene! It is episode 3 in the 5th series.

I also watched a YouTube interview with him, out of curiosity, and it was a riot. What an interesting guy! He said they have 12 babies and rotate them in the show. He was so funny!

The show reminds me of the old Herriott All Creatures Great and Small from years ago, mixed with HOUSE.
Lots of eccentric character actors in this show. Is England REALLY like this? We have new neighbors on one side, from England and Europe. The guy is an engineer for Ford Motor Company, and they move him around. They are Brits and have a home they rent out there still. They didn't buy the house next door but are renting it. They have a 12 yr old boy and 14 yr old daughter, and a 16 yr old who stayed in England. The boy wears black/white cow graphic knee high boots...wellies? I wonder how the school kids are reacting to THAT. He is at the middle school where my son was bullied so badly. The kids speak fluent German as well. I haven't talked to them yet, they just arrived. Going down our stairs is not something I do lightly. But hubby chats with them while he rakes the leaves up down there by the cars.

The series is about a brilliant surgeon who was tops in his field till he developed a fear of blood. Not knowing what to do with him they moved him to the back woods of Port Wenn while he worked on his phobia. He met Lousia and fell in love. The locals are dim witted, idiots who think he is as gullible as they are. its truly funny.

its a british tv drama about a surgeon who suddenly became phobic around blood and had to leave his practice. They assigned him to a small fishing village and he is very stern and by the book, while the locals are very small town, in your face, know your business style folks. They walk into his practice and expect to sit and have a cup of tea, or to be seen now for a cold, without an appointment.

VERY funny show. Reminds me greatly of the town I live in. Was quite an adjustment. Has anyone else seen this series? I was surprised I liked this british TV show so much, but we became quite hooked.

That show is so appealing to me because I knew people who thought and functioned in that manner. yep, very addictive!

Oh, I really do love the baby! They seem to get the best facial expressions out of this child... I just love it. Also the scenery there is lovely.

Doc Martin reminds me of House crossed with Northern Exposure! Also the old series based on James Herriott the Vet, was charming like this too-- All Creatures Great and Small.

It is a very entertaining hour, IMO.

Have you seen the old episodes, before the baby? It's great from the very first episode.

I loved Northern Exposure. Gosh, I wish they'd put those old shows back on. They had All Creatures Great and Small on here again not so long ago. I only have free to air tv., but notice that a couple of the new digital channels have a lot of old repeats. Pity they're usually in the day when I can't get to watch them.

I'm not sure if they use more than one baby but has anyone noticed a baby kind of looking like him????? I thought it did and then not, I'm not sure.

I enjoyed his British Isles series too, he was going to have one on horses as well but I'm not sure what happened there, I only saw one episode.

Thanks Lara... very interesting:

I watched this recent Martin Clunes YouTube... he explains the baby actors in a charming way...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tuR2knZuzB4
and more baby:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhwPZ...eature=related

The scene in the Lexus car pulled off the road, with DocMartin
in his PJs, and the baby next to him sleeping... it was really cute.(5th season)
