Let's make a list of the names and cities of the CURRENT doctors (including specailty), hospitals, and therapists our children see. That way, if someone is from say Boston and was wondering if anyone sees a neuro in Boston, they can look here and go "OH!" and look up the person.
Let's refrain from being negative thou about the places that are bad. Let's just go with the positive. Last edited by Kamie; 09-20-2006 at 09:29 AM. |

Neurology (Atlanta, GA): Dr. Silverboard and Amy Grant at Child Neurology Associates at Scottish Rite (we used to see Dr Cheng who is really good but he has become a lot less available over time).
GI (Atlanta, GA): Dr Patel at GI Care for Kids at Scottish Rite Peditrician (Peachtree City, GA): Jocelyn Collins Opthamologist (Newnan, GA): Jackon Giles Hospital (Atlanta, GA): Born at Northside and spent time in their NICU and Scottish Rite. Scottish Rite is the BEST children's hospital in Atlanta the kids have been on almost every floor and in the TICU and the PICU. They treat the parents really well and are focused on making the kids and the famlies as comfortable as possible through the hospital stays. Cardiologist (Atlanta, GA): Sibley Heart Center at Scottish Rite (All the docs are good there) Hematologist (Atanta, GA): Aflac Blood Disorders and Cancer center at Scottish Rite (all the docs are good there as well) |

Therapists (Kennesaw, GA): Comprehensive Children's Therapy is GREAT for OT, PT, and SLT. They do specalize in sensory integration. We would have stayed there if we did not move.
Vision: GAPines (All over GA). They have been WONDERFUL with our daughter. |

Genetics- Asheville,NC~ Fullerton Genetics Center/Dr. Ellen Boyd For our family she has been awesome. We travel about 3 hours to see her. Well worth it. She is willing to think outside of the box. Neurologist Charlotte, NC~ Neuroscience and Spine Institute/ Dr. James Parrott Dr. Boyd recommended Dr. Parrott. He is a good neurologist, he listens to us and takes our concerns seriously. He does not treat just the EEG, which for a kid like Riley is good- it took a long time for her to have an abnormal EEG. Neurosurgeon Charlotte, NC Carolina Neurosurgery and Spine Associates/ Dr. Michael Heafner Dr. Heafner didn't leave me with a good first impression but since that first meeting he was great. He did Riley VNS and was also very compassionate ans listened to my fears and concerns about the surgery. Orthopedics Winston-Salem, NC Orthopedic Specialist of the Carolinas/ Dr. O'keefe Dr. O'Keefe is great too. They are NOT seeing any new peds patients though. ENT Winston-Salem, NC Peidmont ENT/ Dr. Maxwell He was ok, we haven't seen him in years though. Developmental Pediatrician Asheville, NC Olsen Huff Developmental Center/ Dr. Adrian Sandler Dr. Sandler was awesome. Hospital perference- Carolinas Medical Center/ Levine Childrens Hospital Charlotte, NC Therapist Winston-Salem, NC ~ Caring Hands~ Melody, PT Merrilee, OT Aquatic Therapy - Sticht Center/ Part of Wake Forest University Medical Center - All of the Rec. Therapist have been great with Riley. Almost forgot- AFO's Winston-Salem, NC~ Level Four / Jim Butts We have been at one point or another to all of the AFO "makers" in town and for kids they are by far the best. The color and pattern choices are much better than anyone else- here they also order and bill your insurance for 6 pair of AFO sox and a paid of shoes. If you want Cascade AFO's you have to go to -Advanced Orthotics- All the guys there are nice too. But you don't want the AFO's they make on site.
