Default My chronic pain doctor

I just went to my doctor this week. And he was very helpful. What happens is that he listens, then he lets me tell him what I think we should do with my medications. If I'm having a lot of pain, then we talk about were and if it needs to be taken care of with my medications.

Or if we are going to have to think of working with the shots again.
I had them about 3 or 4 years ago now.

So we upped all my pain meds and even my cymbalta which of course
is my anxiety medication. Mainly because with the stress of my husband
being off I need more.

Boy, you are sure lucky to have him. I wish they could CLONE him. LOL. The last pain doctor I had FIRED me because I couldn't come in for an injection because my HUSBAND DIED. How do you like that??? He wouldn't even fill my meds, so I was out of meds, with my husband dead!!! Needless to say, I was a basket case! I was too nuts to sue him or I would have.

You have a gem of a doc. Hold onto him. God bless. hugs, Lee

Hi Donna,

I'm new to this pain management specialist aspect of my disease. In fact my first visit to a pain specialist was the end of June. I received the same type of compassionate and caring treatment you did. I was impressed with the skills, both personal and medical, exhibited. Absolutely contrary to my experiences with neurologists.

I appreciated the fact he was right up front sharing with my wife and me there was really nothing more he could do for me being one of only 3 patients he has seen like me in his career. No worries, I can deal with that. He did take a personal interest in referring me to a friend/colleague and more advanced specialist called a physiatrist. I'd never hear of that discipline in medicine before.

Your experience is appearing to be more the norm than the unique situation with these upper level specialist. Upper level meaning above neurologists. I hope the adjustments on the meds work well for you and thank you for the update.
