Hi all. I've posted here before. But something new is bothering me.
As I've stated in my other postes I have had numrous spine surgeries; have peripheral neuropathy; severe nerve damage in lumbar and cervical areas. For years I have had severe numbness in my left leg mainly but that is now in my right leg as well. But in addition to that recently I flound that the numbness feeling has increased. But also I am finding it more and more difficult to get in and out of bed. Out of chairs also. The numbness that I have in my left leg was initially from the knee down to the foot area. I also on occasions would get severe cramping in my legs. But the feeling now, the only way I can describe it is a constant stiffness; soreness to the upper legs as well. I also found walking more and more difficult. It really has slowed me up greattly. I do pool therapy and find some relief while doing it. But out of the water my legs are really bothering me I am thinking msucular issues but cant say that is the cause 100% Any thoughts on what my issue may be? Thanks for listening. Allan |

You don't think it originates from the joints, like arthritis?

It could be the arthritis. With so many issues at hand for me it's sometimes difficult to separate what the cause of the problem is.

I had seen an arthritist specialist within the pst year or so. While the neurologist told me I have peripheral neuropathy; severe nerve damage in the neck and lumbar and severe arthritis. the rheumatologist at that point at least told me he felt the arthritis was not what was causing most of my issues.
But lately it is becoming difficult. getting in and out of bed standing up from a seated position etc. I am looking into changing docs to someone that is a pain management specialist and hopefully he can further address all the issues and get things under better control for me. In the meantime I suffer. |

Another opinion could be in order. There's nothing like a theraputic pool set at 100 degrees. I can walk in a pool w/o buckling or stumbling. I can actually walk aerobicly. Of course, that moist heat takes care of all of the achies for me regardless of their origin. I use self hypnosis when I have a surprise spike in pain and can't get to it with the meds in time. I also use it to help initiate sleep on bad nights. The visualization that I use is the therapy pool. I am practiced enough now that the sensation is almost as real as being there. The inflamation flows out of my body. The muscles turn to over cooked pasta. Life is good. Have a good night.
