Default Outer thigh pain after DLIF almost 10 months ago

Both of my outer thighs have a numbing feeling and have since my surgery. When my PM Dr examined me, he touched certain areas of my upper thighs and asked if it hurt, it did. I told him I just thought my muscles were hurting me.

Now he scheduled me for a nerve block for S1 to S3, he is going to do 3 injections. My DLIF was a 4 level L1 to L5 and I still have Awful pain across my lumbar, I wish there was a nerve block for that!

Anyway, has anyone here had this nerve block? Can you tell me how painful this was?

Thank you in advance if anyone answers me.

I've had lots of nerve blocks and the only one that pained me the most was done without sedation. The explanation being that if it hurt so much they had got the right spot. The rest have been with sedation and I've had good results and little to no pain after. Good luck.

Default facet joint nerve block worked!

Well so far anyway. I wish this pain relief would be permanent!

The area my PM Dr did S1, S2 & S3, (and another one that starts with a "C" I think), has given me relief in a area that has actually hurt me for almost 2 years and became my worst pain after surgery.

Why in this world didn't they try this before doing surgery? I can't get this question out of my head. Why, why, why???

I don't want to say too much and jinx myself but I just can't get over how much relief I have.

One of the nurse's said if it worked then the next step is a ablation.

Pamela, have you ever had that done? If you have can you tell me all about your experience? I know nothing about this procedure except something about they kill those nerves.

Hi there, yes I have had lots of Ablations as well and with good results. So long as the area they are doing is not too large and again you are under sedation you can at times get longer lasting results. I'm pleased for you that the nerve block has worked, fingers xd it lasts and lasts and pain becomes a distant memory
