Default New Injectable Med For Constipation!

I went to Dr on Thursday and since I have dealt with constipation for years, so she asked if I wanted to try it and since I don;t go except between 7-10 days so I agreed to try it! It is given like insulin in the fat, and she gave me sample vials and I was given shot in her office and asked to sit in lobby for 15 minutes. Little did I know that it began to work withing 5 minutes and I had to use their bathroom and I gave birth then and there! I was so embarrised, and I brought home the samples and waited 3 days and used it today with same results! I have trouble all the time and out of all of these meds

I am truly amazed that this did not even get a reply as I have been to hell and back with this problem and here is first drug that actually worked after trying Everything on the market! This also works within 5 minutes and Completely empties your large and small intestine without the nasty diarrhea that goes with most of this type drug, and the injection is painless given in fatty tissue?? If anyone wants to know, the name is Atara! It gave me part of my life back as it is horrible to go through 10 days and still not be able to go, so to me and everyone else that suffers with this terrible thing should be happy???

Hey Junie~ Wow, that sounds almost too good to be true. I have not heard of Atara. I seem to end up mixing Benefiber into water, taking extra fiber~~ you name it, I've tried it. I struggle w/IBS and it's something that I deal with on a daily basis. Do you know how the drug works that fast??

Looks like I may have to do a little checking into this. Thanks for the info.

Lightbulb I cannot find this drug Atara

on the FDA site.

Are you sure of the spelling?

There is an injectable drug for opiate induced constipation called
Relistor. However, I have not seen in the studies that it works in 5minutes..that quickly.

That is because I thought the name on the bag off samples was it, but the name of the drug is Relistor!! So sorry for the confusion, I have no idea what Atara is It has worked within 5 minutes for me every single tine! Now maybe I can start eating real food again, instead of oatmeal and shredded wheat

Hi Junie,
I'm glad you found something to work so well for you. Does it cause cramping
or discomfort since it works so fast? That is rather amazing it works with such speed.
Thanks, Diandra

Wow that sounds like a pretty harsh measure, but I completely understand why, as I've suffered myself.
It works, and that's all that matters I'm glad you finally have some relief

Default Relistor

I was in the clinical trial for both injectable and oral Relistor. I'm not sure if the oral med was ever released -- it worked, but only about as well as taking large doses of Benefiber or Miralax (i.e., slowly). Injectable Relistor definitely had instantaneous effects, though! I was told it could take up to 15 minutes to work, but it usually started to work in 2 or 3. Of all the people enrolled in my particular clinical trial center, I was the only one who complained of side-effects -- Relistor made me crampy, sweaty, and nauseous, with the effects lasting about half an hour to an hour. Once I injected myself I knew I'd be down for the count for approximately the next 30 minutes. The good news for anyone reading this is that NO ONE else out of 300 patients at my trial location had these problems, so for most of you, Relistor should be a great drug. Even with the side-effects, I'm still willing to use it rather than suffer horrible constipation (the kind where you worry you're going to end up in the emergency room). The study doctor had me lower my dose of Relistor to see if I could reduce the side-effects, but that didn't seem to help.

If you have access to Relistor and need it, I hope you'll give it a try. Really easy to use and as a couple of folks have already said, it works! I mostly wanted to post because of the person who asked about side-effects -- any side-effects you find listed in the PDR, well, all those are probably mine

I suffered from constipation from morphines, read about xenical when it came out, read that a side-effect of it is runny stools, got doc to let me try it-works like a charm, as long as you take it with abit of fatty food!! easy!

WOW! this sounds amazing!

Sorry to take so long to post, but I dont get to read every section, everyday. Some days I have to peck my way through, and grab what knowledge I can from the corners I can. I am ever so thankful you brought this out. Maybe they can give it before the colonoscopy now instead of that awful juice they make you drink. yuck! I will have to ask about this stuff.
