Cool Need a pain Doc to

Hey Everyone,
I am getting ready to go through having to find one to. I am in MD. My husband is at Edwards AFB (Civillian Employee) I am packing up to move to Cal. City. So I am on quite a bit of meds every month I have RSD and advanced degenerative bone disease. I have had the shots over and over and the tens machine. Finally the Doctors said I just need Medical Management (the meds) or I cant use my hands at all. I have no clue where to look for a Doctor that will agree and not make me go through all of it again. I am even thinking of checking NV and AZ. If anyone knows of a great pain Doc. within an hour or two of Cal. City please let me know.
Thank You

Hi MaMoo,

I'm from the east coast, so I'm sorry that I don't have a reference for you.

I would recommend that you start with the phones and find a pain doc before you move so that your current doc could call/send him your records. Can your current doc refer you to anyone ?

Find a Migraine Clinic connected with a University Hospital. My partner finally got into a Migraine/Headache clinic, and while the first few months were rough, she is doing much better now . . . down from 10+ headaches a month to one, two maybe. She was withdrawn from oral meds including Imitrex and diltiazem(used prophylactically) . . . and given scripts for injectable Imitrex and Toradol. She discontinued her hormones (b/c pills to help with menopause) and even stopped taking Estroven© OTC. I would say the first month or two she felt worse, but then she came out on the other side with fewer headaches. She was also given Rx for massage to help with relaxation, as well as hypnotherapy(not ocovered by insurance) and biofeedback (also not covered.)

More recently she discovered magnesium and feverfew go further to prevent migraines than any other therapy she has been given. She forgot to take them a couple days a week or so ago and the headaches returned . . . but now back on Magnesorb® and feverfew and they are at bay again!

For several years she used almost the maximum number of FMLA days allowed for her "migraine days" at work . . . but we are hoping that she will miss fewer days in the future on this new regimen.

I just saw your post and was going to say Saxton is the doc who I have heard the most in TOS circles.

I have extremely high pain now for 8 years, had TOS surgery, but still need top meds to survive. My doc is full, but I am willing to share with others via phone what works if they want to know and are having trouble.

God bless and fight for pain relief as it gives the nerves time to heal I believe.
