Default Help I need a Pain Doctor Quick

I am getting migraines a lot lately from stress and also when I have my menstrual cycle. I really need to find a good Pain Doctor for this please because it is becoming impossible to deal with this. I live just outside of Beverly Hills. The pain meds work but Doctors don't like to give it. Please reply here or by PM.

A quick way to get relief from this type of stress is from having a series of weekly remedial massages.

Tense, angry muscles cause all sorts of head and neck aches, really bad ones too, as I had.
The massage treatments have almost entirely rid me of head and neck aches.
This was from my pain doctor. He was right.

Stress results in a big stress build-up in the body, usually the muscles, part of the fight or flight response.
They get VERY sore, contract and then pull on the neck muscles, giving you headaches across the base and lower sides of the skull.

You would need to do this for several weeks as it takes a while to get the muscles back under control, so don't give up after just one or two.

Also try frequent hot baths; take muscle relaxants and magnesium for the muscles.

I would HIGHLY suggest a drive outside of your area to find the proper doctor. Here's what I did. I went to my hospital to get help. I called the main # and asked for their pain clinic. They ALL of a portion that deals with pain. Give them a call and get your self some help. Honestly, it's breaking my heart to hear you in this condition ... knowing full well there's plenty of docs ... it's just finding the right one.

Hell, ya may want to start by even using a Google search if the hospital gets you nowhere. I will tell you, I spent over a month in a coma and almost 4 months in the hospital. Their clinic was great. I highly recommend it ... lord knows, you need it!!!

Best wishes and prayers!

Default Where ya' at?

I think maybe I'm being "the Bearor of bad news" so to speak. So, please just don't SHOOT me!!!

If you
NEED A GOOD PAIN DOC RIGHT AWAY -- Sweetie you're gonna have to mount an aggressive campaign: call, write & DEMAND A BIT (OF VARIOUS DOC'S) TIME AT SOME LOCAL CLINICS!!!

I was in the SAME situation when I first moved FROM VT TO SC!!!! I filled a MONTH'S worth of meds & drove right DOWN here! STILL, the waiting period was 6 wks to 3 months!!!

My Primary Doc couldn't understand (when I was SO LUCKY to get in within 7 weeks) why I wasn't in ECSTASY!!! Uhhhhhhhh, mostly because I was going through horrendous withdrawal from going 150mg of Extended Release morphine daiy TO
ZEROmg Cold-Turkey!!! If an experience like THAT can't motivate you to get off "the drugs"-- NOTHING CAN!!! ...and, just maybe you actually need them???

Goldenss, fellow-sufferer-- PLEASE don't procrastinate at all. Time is you friend!!! If you can get your Primary Doc to ADVOCATE 4- you, things will go SO MUCH BETTER for you!!!

Many Hugs & Affection;
Mia

Confused Thanks for your support

I do have an appointment tomorrow with one of the docs you mentioned, I had a terrible migraine this morning only thing that works is pain meds nothing else works it hurts like all hell i had pain meds from urgent care but they said I need pain management, I walked in urgent care in so much pain crying, of course again today severe migraine, extremely stiff neck and painful I never did a drug a day in my life, I dont care if they drug test me every minute of the day, but I cant function the way I have. The pain of migraines is miserable and no triptans work. Peter I have gone the route you said that will not work for my kind of migraines i also get neck pain during my migraines and my migraines can be extremely painful, I am at my wits end, but the absolute ONLY thing that have ever worked are pain meds. My migraines are even worse than the "normal" migraines I cant get out of them with magnesium, or triptans, or maxalt, makes me throwup. Mine is not solely related to stress it is also clinical, if anyone has had an experience with one of the docs mentioned please let me know or This pain is tremendous.

Goldenss, I'm so sorry that things like Imitrex (a triptan) doesn't work for you. I certainly hope the Dr you see tomorrow understands and gets you on a regular pain management program. You are absolutely right about Drs, who are not specialists practicing pain management only, not liking to write scripts for narcotics. They will tell you they do not understand the interactions between true narcotics and the more synthetic narcotics, such as Opana. Our state checks into the numbers of and types of narcotics scripts that non-pain mangement Drs write. Even my orthopaedic surgeon was asked, once, about why he wrote me a monthly maintenance script (40 pills) of a very low-strength narcotic.

I wanted to provide some alternate routes that might lead you to a good, understanding, Pain Management practice. Inquire with highly-rated Physical Therapy practices in your area. Particulary those who practice for the sports community, and those who work with the seriously injured (victims of car wrecks, strokes, the like, for people surviving catastophic events from which they will never recover fully). Some hospitals have special stroke facilities, and as we know, Beau Biden certainly proved to those who doubted that strokes are not confined to the elderly. Quick access to, and frequent sessions with PTs are critical to achieve maximum improvement. PTs know that pain prevents needed therapy. Most even stop sessions when their clients' pain levels are too high. This almost always causes add'l injury when patients try to do their home exercises. PTs know the best Pain Doctors. Then, have your primary Dr write a referral to the Dr you find through these routes.

I seriously hope that today solved your primary problem of finding the Pain Dr who will work with you. But, thought I'd add some different ideas, in case.

I really think Physical therapist are good ideas. And honestly sometimes
they have ideas for migraines. Also I have a very good massage therapist
that works on my neck. She can relax it and get rid of the pain.

This is one of the things that helps my migraines. Another is a hot neck
heating pad.

One of the best headache neurologists is in Encino. Dr. Kudrow. Lisa Kudrow is his sister and their father was my headache doc years again. He has retired and his son has had the practice for many years.
