Hi I am a new member, I joined because my daughter 24 collapsed in A&E dep. two weeks ago. she had suffered from headache for more than 18 months, was diagnosed as migrine, on that day the pain was severe, she ended up in the A&E but collapsed two hours after admition. she went un concoius for 50 mintues ( until operated on) according to the records, was taken to a scan, that showed a colloid syst blocking the csf flow, then had an external tubing installed to relief the pressure. Her brain has suffered damage, the neuro surgents can not tell how much damage from the scan, she has had a shunt now but still quit disabled. Can anybody help me of similar case where the patient has recovered and what to expect.
I am sorry I do not know how to start a new thread. Salam |

Hi Salam and Welcome to NeuroTalk.
I moved your post for you. If you click on the main forum name, like Colloid Cyst ( it will be right above the NT toolbar and is underlined), that will bring you to a forums main page. There is a button to the left that says New Thread. Just click that and start a new thread. Let me know if I can be of any help navagating the forum.

Thank you Tom, we are still pretty much in the same position after the 5th week of our duaghter collapse, but as you wrote, every body tell us that it is a long road, only we do not know where it will lead us. I hope you make full recovery.

Hi, Salam! I am not REAL familiar with colloid cysts, but I did have a cousin who suffered through much the same thing: a blockage of CSF fluid, and he had to have a shunt, too. When he was younger, he was pretty disabled. It took years of therapy and relearning, but he is now functional again. However, the damage which was inflicted is still evident, in a general-personality way, and the way he hunches. It takes a lot of love and support, and a lot of hair-tearing too, to get back to a semblance of normality. But it CAN happen. Good luck to you and to your daughter!

hey guys im a newbie looking for some support. On monday my wife had a colloid cyst removed from her brain. im just wondering how the recovery goes? im told her chances are real good?
I find it annoying,as she ahd been at local gp's and hospitals several times over the past 3 years about her blinding headaches, and a scan was not until she lost conciousness in my local A+E. We have two kids, one 10 wks old,and im just wondering how we are gonna deal with it all when she leaves hospital. all help and encouragement appreciated! |
