Would you also consider forums for:

Caregivers so we can share coping strategies and shoulders to lean on during the bad times.

Humor or Comic Relief for the days when we desperately need to find something to laugh about.

Pet forum because they are such an important part of our lives. No matter what our problems they just love and support us without judgement.

Art/Poetry forum. There are many creative people and I for one enjoy reading and seeing photos of the output of their hearts and minds. I think I learned more about the pain and difficulty of people's lives in reading their stories and poems than anywhere else. And just as importantly about their joys and triumphs and what makes them unique, wonderful, amazing.

What about a sub-forum for Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus??

Other new forum topics...??

what does anyone think about a few more forums medical and non-medical ?

like maybe something like - I'm just putting some ideas out -

For the Home?
Recipes & Cooking ?
Penny Pinching, Coupons & Frugal Living?
{maybe these could be combined if there is any interest in these types of topics.}

what about a General topic about-

Dealing with Drs, offices, forms, tests, legal issues & insurance companies? { would need a shorter name i think}
{ this would be handy for all- hints, tips and ins and outs, ect}

A few other medical topics -

Repetitive Strain Injury
Chronic Myofascial Pain
Chronic Fatigue

So what do you think?
any ideas or suggestions?
How to make this a well rounded community?

Hi All,

I'm new here so perhaps it is forward of me to ask but if there is enough interest would it be possible to have a forum for Arnold Chiari Malformation?

Thank you for your consideration.

Alzheimer's, Dementia & Caregivers

Hi Trekker. I agree we need something for caregivers. I had posted this along with the Alzheimer's and Dementia room.

Maybe we could have a caregivers room, put all the things that goes with caregiving. It is MHO that caregivers need all the encourgement they can find. It is a hard job and if one is not careful they will burn out, then who will take care of the patient?

I hope this will be considered.
thank you, Jo

More forums

Hi all, I'm requesting a Pet Forum, myoclonus/movement disorder forum & emotional support forum. And sure would like to see the Lymies back-appreciate that you put in the Lyme disease forum!

I'm adding the need for a diabetes forum also! (hard to recall all the forums I was active on!)

Thanks so much!

Alzheimer's, Dementia and CAREGIVERS!

The symptoms of Alzheimer's and Dementia from aging or numerous other reasons are closely related. There are differences, but close enough to combine the 2.

The caregiving issue is important, too little attention is given to the health of the caregiver and they get burned out in a hurry.

Many times we will find ourselves doing both. I myself have several neuro issue's, but I have been caregiver to MIL who has Alzheimer's Disease.

If enough people are interested enough to be a part of a forum like this please speak up. It would be helpful to me, but not if only 1 or 2 others take part. It's not easy taking care of another very sick person.

Be honest with your self if you think about being part of a forum of this nature. If you can't take part it is certainly understandable if you don't have time to take anything else on.

I would like to see every thing here helpfull. If not, then we need to put the space to a better use.
thank you, Julia

On a board as large as this one, well i think the last time I looked there were maybe 6 or 7 hundred? Am I the only one here that have loved ones with Alzheimers or Dementia from many reasons? The Caregivers are the ones that need desperatly a place to care for each other as much as an online site could be. This is very important

I don't understand why no interest has been shown for this request. On another post Trekker listed a Caregiver Support room. This could be for more than one disease.

Alzheimer's D. is an important issue, it's not like something nobody has ever heard of it. Sorry, I have personal concerns, my MIL has Alzheimer's and it is very heart breaking.

I see many other things being asked for , they all have their place. I'm sure many like Comic Relief and maybe that is how they get through their hard times, but when you watch someone lose their idenity, don't remember their name, much less their childrens name and the heart break goes on.

If nobody else here have an interest in a room for Caregivers, Alzheimer's and Dementia, I will stop posting all over the place. This is something that you put your whole self into and thats when the caregiver gets into trouble with their health.

thank you, Jo
