Hi Jo

I'm pretty positive I read on a thread today that Doc John has been sick and he would get more forums put up tomorrow.

I agree that the forums you are asking for are extremely important. I took care of my father with dementia and I bow to anyone taking care of Alz or dementia patients.

Blessings for you!

How to make this a well rounded community?

What do I think? Jo, this is not a Betty Crocker, Pillsbury or a Martha Forum. Lets stick with medical issues, OK? Doc John has made this a well rounded community. Lets respect this.

Diet and recipe swapping are an important function on many boards. Many of us have some exotic dietary restrictions due to our medical conditions. Many of us are on a constant look out for dishes that we can tollerate.

Then there are those who still struggle to remain domesticly functional and always appreciate household hints. There are quite a few of us who have become or remained functional in the kitchen thanks to simple remodling tips that have been passed on........on the boards.

It may not be rocket science but it certainly relates, in a serious way, to our medical conditions. Just a thought. Have a good weekend

I was worried that there weren't to be off topic threads.......I asked about it and they are to be allowed in all forums......this place isn't to be just about medicine.......what a wonderful relief that was to me....I had a large sigh of relief........

I take no medications, because of my brain injury....so any post, I ever post on, will not be about medications.....I come to this place, to help me live in the world......it is not information about meds that I take away from here....it is the human strength part, it has such tremedous value to me.....any thing that makes it easier to get through each day.....certainly rates, as a treasure......in my book........

The men in my home have come to tell me they need me.....HA.........

I hope what ever I wrote makes sense...........I think it is a wonderful and helpful thing for the caregivers.......especially if we are the wounded ones.....

Blessings to us all......

We share recipes on the weight loss forum. Any and all are welcome to join in, even if you are not necessarily coming to lose weight maybe you could share recipes or food tips that have kept you not needing a weight loss forum ...Sue

I could utilize a Good Nutrition forum for sure! I am hypoglycemic and don't feel comfortable posting in Diabetes (natch) ...at least with a nutrition support forum, I could battle the most important aspect of it. TC. JD

The old Alzheimers/Dementia board was the FIRST one I looked for when I came here, I think... my mum has frontal lobe variant Alzheimers, severe emphasema and multiple other medical problems. I am, for all practical purposes, her only carer... despite significant health problems/disabilities of my own. Needless to say, really struggling.

Miss the CP board, too.

Lightbulb JDPhD....

I second the suggestion, that Chemar made.

I have a good grasp of nutrition issues (how to balance your food intake
so you get the vits/minerals from your food).

I myself have insulin resistance, so I am somewhat hypoglycemic myself
and have to take care of that!

Our weight loss forum has some threads that are "nutrition" based, not
just for weight loss, but for controlling hunger. The fruits/veggie thread is
good, there. So check that out too.

Maybe that forum could be renamed Weight Loss/ Nutritional Issues?

We have a very active forum at Vit/Minerals forum here, please take a look.
