Ellie

I hear you and thanks for taking the time to reply so carefully and, to me anyway, so clearly

I tried my best, but I think I started to babble and put people under the impression KD locked for another reason. For that, I am sorry.

I will be 100% honest. Today, I woke up and made coffee twice because I forgot I made the first post and over-flowed everything. Then I overflowed the washer because I added soap several times.

I have days like these, and I can't say anything except I am human and I simply cannot help it. I hope everyone can understand this. I just wanted to make it clear that I believe things should be discussed, I didn't want anyone under the impression that I thought anything other than that.

I am always honest, sometimes too honest - but I try my best, and I hope that you can appreciate my honesty.

Hope you're all having a great day!

Chemar, thanks - you made me smile.

I believe Kimmy is working on adding titles to usernames, Unknown. Don't quote me, but I am pretty sure that was being done. The area to find the forum leaders is rather hard to find, it was for me at least. Maybe we can add a sticky to link it.

Again, it wasn't a lock out of anything negative - Kimmy was just 'saving' it for Doc John. Kind of like keeping his plate in the microwave so his dinner stays warm until he gets home!
Now...this would be the very first forum where threads grow legs and run away all on their own...

The decision to lock a civil thread because it might get heated and you want to save it in its current state smells very bad to me...in fact, despite it having been done with a friendly and polite explanation, it is just plain censorship. There is a good book about exactly that type of thing... Another way of doing it might have been to say that you are thinking of closing this thread because of <name your favorite reason> which would have given people a chance to respond. You didn't and so they couldn't...

Forums live by discussions, talks, change...you do know that "food" kept for somebody goes stale quickly...and Yesterdays threads, especially the ones not allowed to evolve, go stale extremely quickly and, like old food, they leave a bad taste.

cheers
eve

Better temporarily locked than permanently deleted.

I am going to add my 2 cents again for what ever value 2 cents has.......my opinion of why the thread was locked was because we were all talking and spouting opinions and thoughts about the role of moderators...that was going to go on and on.....

when.....the big when........

Doc John hasn't even posted the rules or expectations for what the moderators role is, or really what is allowed and isn't allowed......so we were all going on about something when we don't even know what Doc John's intentions are geared for.....that is just my thinking.......

The biggest thing I have learned in retraining my brain......no matter what you do.....you aren't going to make everyone happy........

Our brains are wired to create.......always something better......and better doesn't always mean the same thing to everyone.......

Blessings on us all.........

Lord love a duck. I'm glad I'm not Doc John. I'd come back here and just say, forgit about it.

I see complaints about a thread of complaints based on other complaints in other threads that had complaints about a comlplaint that so and so made in another........

What I saw was people verging on taking away a fundamental right to express ourselves.

So and so doesn't like chocolate, someone doesn't like angels, I personally don't like religion shoved down my throat, but what are we gonna do? I wouldn't believe it if someone here told me that nothing would offend them.

Where do we draw the line? No talk about chocolates?

Do I not get to put a link to Race for the Cure in my signature line because someone in the Breast Cancer forum may become upset?

Can I not go into a colon cancer forum and speak of my issues because someone might become offended when I start describing problems related to a colonoscopy? Or want to put a link in my signature to some site for a Cure for Colon Cancer?

If I'm sick of watching someone consistently using bad grammar because it so offends me, that person can be asked to have their posts checked first because I become so upset at reading them?

Where do we draw the line? How about we let the chocolate and the angels and bad grammar stay, and start freaking out when we have to question the use of someone's pornographic avatar?

And, I did see bashing in that thread (indirectly). I'm not agreeing with it being locked but...when people were complaining about other people posting about 'chocolate', who do you think of?????????? Or 'hugs' and 'kisses' or whatever the other complaint was

If we had a Moderator Number Four here, we wouldn't be dealing with all of this.

Now there's a scary thought.
