Put that picture back up as it was directed to me and I saw the humour and had a good laugh although the one with his lips sewn shut was a bit too harsh. i have a good imagination so I could feel the pain he must have suffered through at the hands of his detractors.

Detractors thats a good word eh

I know you aren't one and I hope I am not either but then it takes soul searchilng to determine that.

I don't believe in the soul theory

So maybe these detractors are a figment of my growing senile brain

Anyway back to my tea and biscuits at least they sustain me

Sustain now that's a good word too eh what

Can you sustain a post

Can you sustain a life

Can you sustain a desire to keep on fighting these warsl

Wow Bobby

The big question

Can you sustain desire ???????????????????????????????????/
if you know how you can.

glad you saw them funny 2

All Moderators at Braintalk2

I do not need a Mother figure to watch over me or anticipate anyones motives for posting to me.

Stop worrying and wondering at the content of the posts being put up and get on with job you are here for.

No one can read minds or elaborate on what is said unless you are in personal contact and can ask the questions required to make such judgements.

What is wrong here. Do you all feel insecure to the point of having to have 2or 3 or 4 of you getting involved in what you ASSUME will happen.

Assumptions have to be based on past performances and that is why the installation of moderators is too soon to be installed here.

There is nothling for you to moderate at this time and you can try but you can't manufacture some out of thin air.

So sit down and take a break and try and just read till you understand from where we are coming from.

It has taken years to build the relationships that are here in the few people from Braintalk who have come over and I think you don't understand the gist of what these friendships entail. It will take time.

Remember too many cooks spoil the dish.

thelma, don't you dare shut up. you are the voice of conscience for many.

i don't always agree with you, but you always make me think about my position. sometimes you change my mind, generally not. but you always make me think.

dangerous stuff, thinking.

BRAVO! Thelma Bravo!
thank you, thank you for all that you have said on the subject of moderation

Mods:

To interpret the written word, we all pull from our life's experiences thus far.
Some take offense, some defense...some care, some don't care...... some agree, some disagree... and often, the words are twisted, misconstrued and misunderstood.

We are a GLOBAL community.

It takes exceptional skill and training to moderate a forum of this magnitude.

I agree that Bobby's posts could have been taken two ways, but from a cursory glance at the forums you can see the sort of relationship that Thelma and Bobby have.

It does beg the question of 'who's definition of offensive?', which is a problem in all forums, and generally has to be shaped by the users and moderators listening to each other over a period of time.

On the sites where I do moderate, I take the time to read every single post, partially to get a feel for how member x relates to member y - it may not be possible as these forums grow, but taking a look at peoples' previous relationships isn't too hard to do.

Default it doesn't have to be that hard...

....why not have moderators for forums on specific conditions and selected general topics and also have some general unmoderated topics that one can frequent or not as they desire?

In the moderated ones let the mod act as judge but let the members act as district attorney (ie filing complaints with mod) and have some sort of appeal. Also give the mod a choice of actions instead of "ban - no ban".

Given that some of our members are very vulnerable, the moderated areas would be safe havens. And given that some of our members have rabies, they would have a place with no sharp objects.

You picked a good example when you chose John's wrasslin ring. I never felt there was a big problem there as you seem to.

The problem was that some did not like each other and they came just to cause disharmony knowing full well that to cause enough would have the effect it did.

They came in cliques and that made it worse.

I think what the above person is saying is you would come with the full knowledge that there would be no savior coming to help you.

We all know that there were cliques at Braintalk that were there because of personal knowledge of who the moderators were and they used them for their own means.

Manipulation of moderators can not be done when all know who they are. Not their real names of course but at least a name you can take seriously.

Myself I can not for the life of me relate to some of the names. I feel stupid even trying. But that is me.

I think John2 here at this site could at least try it and if it fails then so be it it is dead forever.

All of the pornography that appeared on John1's site was not in the wrasslin ring but on the whole forum in various postings.

Addy and I spent one night finding John at the hospital and getting them off before the members even woke up and discovered them.

But this site should be different as the equiptment seems more up to date then what John1 had to start his.

This site holds promise for many different theories to be tried out and this is just one of the many suggestions you will be getting.

It will be a trial by fire in some ways but the members here now are mostly from the other site and they are smart as a whip.

They come from all over the world and are common in one unique way and that is not by the disease they have but by the common desire to find ultimately a cure but in the meantime at least a viable treatment.

But and thils is a big but they are coming here with the desire to make this site one that can welcome a good heated discussion as well as just have a good day

You are starting this site John2 with the cream of the crop. It will take awhile but it will be unique on the www because it has incorporated the one important thing lacking everywhere.

Freedom of speech

Thanks

I see exactly what you're getting at, Thelma. You argue a very good case. If the idea were to be presented to DocJohn, you might get a better response if you formally present the idea in say a month or so when we should be settled in.

The way you put it, a freedom room sounds like a really interesting idea.

All the best

Thumbs up

Thelma - yes, once again, you say it all so clearly! thank you.
I am very pleased to see the direction this discussion has taken.

Mods: Some of what I have read you say about what happened in the original forums worries me.

Sorry not to know - but who are you, DocJohn? From what I gather, you are the new founder of this forum and you are a doctor? For what its worth, I feel that Thelma has been an excellent example of constructive discussion/debate throughout this topic. I am very pleased that she can put many of my thoughts into words. We all make a choice as to how we interpret those written words. Without facial expression, tone of voice, eye contact, body language... you get my drift...

I work in customer support for a very large online company - - and I deal with the phone calls from those who are having difficulty with their online interactions. So much of what I have learned through my braintalk experiences has taught me kindness and forgiveness. I think I always had the kindness... it was the forgiveness that took a little longer to grow. My job is extremely challenging... I gather strength from the grafitication of knowing I am helping people.
enough about me ..... I am sure you will find this too.

Default Thelma, you never thought you'd hear me say this..

...but you "got it." In the past week you have been speaking for me and apparently some others, in the way that Greg used to. THe other night I was spluttering and completely unable to express myself. I know that I have a lot to contribute but it's so hard right now... I have never seen so many NOT posting... I'm afraid to post myself, unless I can say it perfectly, but I won't always be so full of narcotics and when I get my wits about me I hope I'll be the female version of the old saying, "A gentleman is someone who never hurts anyone's feelings unintentionally." I'm just not sure where all these people (to whom be honor and praise forever, or TWBHAPF) will see me as coming from, can't predict outcomess...that's a function of the anterior cingular cortex, which typically degenerates in Parkinson's Disease--there will be a quiz later--and I can't think my way around it in this state....

But whatever I was just trying to say, Thelma, THANK YOU. Post in every thread at every hour, speak from whatever high place you've found.

I do believe I'm really
