Default Unknown Quantity?

I've been called a lot of things, but I don't understand this one. When I click on the little green box by my screen name, it says "Username is an unknown quantity".????

Hmmmm...... now what exactly does that mean. I understand the point thingy.

Don't worry Username. I too am an unknown quantity. We can start our own group.

At least I know, after reading another thread, we all start out with 10 points!!! So remember this, you are worth 10 points. It's just that so far nobody else thinks we're worth more than 10 points. LOL! And Doc John said somewhere if we didn't like it he could remove it. It's one of those 'default' thingies in the program.

Doesn't bother me though.

At least this way we'll know who the realllllly popular people are so we can kiss up to them, if we are so inclined.

Oi vey! 72? It just means I must have a mouth on me! LOL! I guess that's because so far it's felt very comfortable here.

Which reminds me of a girl in high school oh so many (mumble, mumble) years ago, who talked a blue streak. She came to be affectionately known as Motor Mouth. Were she here, who knows how many posts she'd have, LOL!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh, Now I understand. On BT1 I had a huge amount of posts and people use to say you must have a lot of knowledge about one topic or another. I told them that it didn't mean anything, since 99% of my posts were BS anyway. I kind of like being an unknown quantity!

Thanks for your help,

Linda

Linda,
I had to kinda laugh and nod my head when I read your post because at times it would seem like some people got too caught up in that "number" (of posts) and would post just to try to run it up- or to try to beat somebody elses number or to have the most posts of anybody, etc. And, as you said, I think sometimes some people would assume that because of the high number of posts, these people must be Albert Einstein....which was definitely not the case....At bt1, I went back occasionally and deleted all of my own posts because somebody who knows way more about computers than I do advised to do this occasionally and their reasoning made alot of sense to me. So, instead of my "big number" going up, it went down considerably to where it looked like I was a new member with very little posts- which was certainly no big deal to me....I'll be the first to admit that I'm no authority on anything, except maybe weight gain on Neurontin , so there is no reason for me to try to make myself appear any different- as in, smarter than I really am!

Sigh, having one of those mental letdown days I think. Is there an undercurrent message here that I should shut up or delete some posts??? I ran out of my Cymbalta so...I'm probably just being sensitive.

no reason at all doody. all of yor posts are just fine.

many of the features are default features of the forum software. finding out what the members want to keep or not will take a little bit of time.

rest hon.

as you can see,. the green box ( reputation ) is gone.

Doody:

Why would you think this had anything to do with you? This was all about me, no underlying tone what so ever, please don't think that.

Have a great day!

Sowwy.

And I got my Cymbalta refilled so maybe that will help. Yeah I mean...who cares how many posts somebody has! Geez. I saw that there is talk about doing away with that. It would be weird not to see a post count. Seems like you see post counts everywhere you go.

The one thing that does bother me, a little, though is those 'view' counts. Now to me that might be offensive to someone! To make a post, get 1 or no answers, but see there have been 5 thousand views.

But like I said, really..who gives a patoot.

Thanks.
