Question

I cannot get on here with my main machine. It appears to have the text message about the down from DocJohn.

I cleared the cache and it is still there.

But I can log on with my backup laptop that I use occasionally.

I am confused and don't understand this.

When I tried an hr ago...I got the 404 message at the top of my screen and the skin I use was incomplete. Now all seems normal except for chat. On this alternate laptop that is.

My main computer is stuck on the message from DocJohn. Maybe I should reboot it? I'll try that.

My problems were pretty confusing....

With experimentally fiddling around I could log into my Moderator Panel. From there I clicked Forums home and got in that way. Both links are in my favorites. But hubby and I stewed on this for a while and he suggested to remove my link to the main board from favorites entirely.

So I did that. Logged into the mod panel, got to the main board index and bookmarked that. Then I logged out. And tried coming back in using the new link...and that worked.
I have to say we looked at both addresses and they were identical in appearance, but one just didn't work anymore.

Now this didn't happen yesterday! Only today.

I didn't change anything in Bookmarks for my Moderator link. It still works. Boy, I sure do NOT understand computers!

From what Chemar posted to my post and others, Doc John just hadn't gotten around to doing the Chat Rooms. I could not get on them yesterday or today. I've had no trouble with anything else.

Photos are not loading for me in my profile album.

I just checked that feature...and perhaps it needs activating?

I think it likely that DocJohn is probably working on resetting things to make sure all is stable so perhaps some features are not yet accessible.

Heart Just sending a 'Thank You'.....

....to DocJohn and everyone else who helps keep this wonderful forum going.........It's a big ship to run and I am just OH so grateful that it wasn't a complete 'crash' ...... the downtime gave me a chance to realize how VERY important this forum is to us.

So, just wanted to send a big 'thumbs up' to everyone involved and am thankful for what we have so far......and have faith that all the rest will come together in due season.....
And most of all, THANK you for keeping us updated.......... I for one would have probably been running in circles panic-stricken, had there been no communication of the problem that exists.....

This is a good 'wake up' call to realize the deep appreciation that we have this wonderful forum in the first place

You're welcome.

Due to having to change public-facing servers this go-around, that means something needs to be updated around the Internet. This something does take time -- it can be as long as 24 hours -- before you'll see everything in working order. Some may see no issues right now; others may still be having some sort of issue. But come tomorrow, you all should be on the same page and not have any more problems.

Chat is back online as well.

The community is now hosted on two brand new servers, so we should be set again for a few more years.

Best,
DocJohn
