Question responding to a neurotalk forward email

When I receive an email that has been linked to me from the allowed email here...If I hit reply does it go back to the sender or lost in hyperspace someplace. They are not returned. But, I do not receive an additional response?

Guess I do not have the knack to respond properly?

Di
I am pretty sure that just hitting reply would send it back to the automated system that sends it out, and therefore it would not be received by the party you are replying to.........I know that is what happens if people try to repond to PMs direct from their email inbox notification

Unless the person has included their email addy you would need to come back and email them via their profile

you can always check by looking at what is in the TO field when you hit reply

I only receive PMs here, not emails and so I cant test it for you, but hopefully someone who knows for sure (Doc?) will be able to give you a finite answer

Lightbulb I have not received email

from here yet. But I have alot from OBT.

In the automated send..there is a email address included in the text.
You can copy that out and reply to it.

I think hitting reply would not work, but that is just my opinion.

I used to keep my PMs closed at OBT because of abusive posters, and
heckling. So I would get an email occasionally.

Sometimes I'd get a PM overflow message. I always checked out who
the person was on members list before replying however. Several times
the person trying to send the PM was not listed on OBT at all! I even asked at their help desk how this could be... no one knew. I never responded to those,
of course.

Di,

I do not often use the "email this member" feature here so I am unfamiliar with the fine points of it. However I do have my profile set to allow other members to email me - so if you would like to go to my profile and send me an email through the NeuroTalk system, I can then check it out and help to figure out how to reply to that person (and not reply back to the NT system).

So, feel free to click on my profile, send me an email through the system, and I'll see what needs to get done so that I can reply back to you via email - and then I will let you know how I did it OK?

Tongue thanks all

I guess that is why I don't hear back from those that use the email me feature....
Jo, did you get both emails I sent, and then the third from the regular email?

What I will have to do is double check to click on the email addy, and just use that feature.

Liz, what I was trying to do is have an email link sent to me, then hit reply to respond back as a test, or find the correct email for the person to send. I think I had been just hitting reply, perhaps it needs their end to accept emails to be sent back???

Puters so stressful.

I did a few tests with this and I found out that in my email inbox when I hit the "reply" button the email was addressed to the person who sent me the email, and the email did reply to the person who sent me to email (not the automated system) and when I sent that email, it did go to the person, not the system.

So, I got an email from someone through the NT system. I hit the reply button on that email. And my reply went to the person, not to the NT system.

So, for me and my email inbox, I was able to use the "reply" button on an email that I got through the automated NT system, and that reply went to the persons email address, not the NT system's email address.

I also noticed that the top portion of the email includes information that includes the senders email address.

I sent an email to myself through the NT system so that I could copy/paste this info without revealing anyone elses email address. The following is a copy/paste of the top portion of the email -

Quote:
To email Wittesea, you can use this online form:
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/sendmessage.php?do=mailmember&u=7

OR, by email:
mailto:wittesea@excite.com
So, when you click on the "reply" button, you can chek to see that the email is going to the person (and not to the system) by verifying that the email address in the "to" box matches the email address that is included in the email.

I hope that helps, but if not, let me know and I am more than willing to play around with it some more to see if I can find anything else out.
