Hello.
At first, I would like to send a message of congratulations to everyone that keeps all the forums working. I have a question and I don't know if this is the correct place to post it: One forum that I'm always looking is the one about Health News, in an attempt to find news on Myasthenia Gravis. I never find anything. Is there a reason for this? As the forum is for news in neurological issues too, why I can't find news about a neuromuscular disease? Thank you for your attention. Bluestone |

The news just pulls in the default "health" articles from various feeds like Topix and Google. We don't use any keywords for these feeds, so they are going to be pretty general by nature. (If we did use keywords, I suspect it would increase the number of articles 10 fold for all the keywords we'd need to cover...)

Thanks for your question, bluestone, and the answer, DocJohn. Bluestone, I've got my yahoo set to email me any time the term myasthenia gravis appears in the news anywhere online. I've posted on the mg forum several of the interesting things that have come up. Since the news forum is so general, others who are concerned about rather specialized conditions or diseases might be able to do the same that I did, so as to glean special articles to post on their own particular forum of interest.
Hugs,

There are a number of other good ways to get news by topic as well. Medline and Medscape are good. You can search by topic or by date.
http://search.medscape.com/medscape-...0&search_type= Search for Myasthenia Gravis by topic and by publish date http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/alphanews_m.html M - by Topic http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/m...niagravis.html There's usually a News item there in the section on Basics, but I can't see it on that page I'm sorry. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/newsbydate.html by Date http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?db=PubMed There's also PubMed I had to edit as I clicked on the wrong "M" in the topic. I also wanted to say that I subscribe to some free online publications specific to a number of conditions that I try to keep track of each week (or day). I get updates sent to me in email. There's also Topix. http://www.topix.net/health/myasthenia-gravis Another one here, although it's a new one to me but it might be useful. I'm going to check it out for other conditions myself. http://www.news-medical.net/?keyword...henia%20gravis Last edited by Lara; 07-09-2007 at 08:55 PM. |
