Unhappy Inaccessible websites this morning

An issue occurred this morning around 2:00am ET that affected service delivery of Psych Central and its two communities, the Psych Central Community and the Neurotalk community.

This issue involved one of the services used to provide access to the websites, which we obtain through a third-party provider. This service is hosted redundantly, to supposedly protect us against such widespread outages. Unfortunately, their services failed, as did their secondary and tertiary backup services.

Because of this, access to the websites during this time was intermittant or impossible.

We have temporarily moved these services to our own servers, and are awaiting a report from the third-party provider to dertmine whether to continue hosting these services with them or find another provider of these services.

We apologize for the outage.

Thumbs up Appreciate the Explanation

I was awake and did try accessing the NeuroTalk Community about 2:30 and was suprised to not be able to log on. I was sure hoping it was something real simple as everyone (or most everyone) seems to be settling in and feels comfortable here. I know I sure do and so glad there are so many familiar people here.

Keep up the good work, DocJohn.

Default Thanks for the update, DocJohn...

Silverlady posted that the Neuropathy Association board was hacked
yesterday. You might look at that thread if you think it is important to
this event as well.

I had some problems yesterday, slow, weird stuff. Then this morning it was off.
Thanks for fixing it so quickly and letting us know.

Many people still can't access the site and DocJohn is working on that right now. Hopefully things will be back to normal soon.

Question hmmmm?

It has been on/off for me today too.

You know when I went to send a Yahoo email, I got THREE scrambled
letter boxes in a row, with 3 different combos, to decifer!

Never had 3 in a row!

Something must be up!

Yes, we had some continuing troubles throughout the day with this issue, but feel like once the changes have propegated throughout the 'net (which could take 12-36 hours), we should be okay again. Again, my apologies for this frustrating access day!

Oh, we survive! Sorry you have to put up with all the behind the scenes computer issues for us.

Thanks very much for all you're doing here for everyone.
It is appreciated, even if it's not said too often.

take care,
Lara

Many thanks for keeping us informed, Doc John, very much appreciated!

You know our recent history, one just can't help reacting like "Oh it's down, I'll try again in a couple of hours" then thinking "...or a couple of days? weeks? months?.." but no, up you pop with a very full explanation.

Tell you what though, it also made me think "Thank goodness we've got this place" and realize just how lucky we were to be adopted by you. I, for one, am not only comfortable, I use this entire forum in a real community way.

On OBT I stuck pretty much to my "home" forum, but here I really enjoy seeing how we're all doing in other forums and especially the general areas. We just don't have the overbearing attitudes of long-term inmates ( ) - probably because we all started on a level playing field, but also greatly enhanced by the fact of you allowing us a free rein when we started up, thus largely purging the general aggravation we were all feeling back then.

I really think NT has a great friendly, helpful atmosphere and a wonderfully positive attitude - a general feeling of good humour. And I'm not just saying this to kiss *****, I genuinely feel it and I'm a believer in telling people straight away when I reckon they've done good.

So thanks for proving. yet again, what a great home this is,
all the best
