I can not get my audio speaker to work on my computer and need to listen to the instructional CD for the recovery of my surgery. My eye surgery is Tuesday morning. I can not read the instructions in the pamplet as the print is too small. When I plugged the jack in the tower I heard a sound for a second before the speaker went dead. I had the power plugged into the power strip when I plugged the jack into the tower into a different hole. The 1st hole did not give me any sound. I wonder if I blew the speakers by doing that. I've shut down the computer and tried again. I know i have the right hole in the tower because I had sound for a second. I do not have it on mute. The light on the speaker is on but no sound at all is coming from speaker.

Typically, when speakers are "blown" they still produce audio, even if it's only white noise.

If the speakers are powered, check all your connections including at the outlet and power strip. If the speakers are clip-wired, make sure the wires are in the proper clips, partial or backwards will not produce any sound.

Thanks, it is working now. The sound sounds like it's in a tunnel though. What can be done to correct that?

double check the sound, audio settings in the control panel.. maybe a boost or something is set wrong.

Jo, I can not find where I can adjust the boost. I have Windows Vista Premium HP computer. Can someone tell me how I get there?

go to bottom desk top browser, right click on sound,window will pop up.Select volume control. then adjust your sound. hope it works for you.
