My computer is supposed to allow me to watch TV as well as listen to music and look at my pictures. For some reason, I cannot watch TV. Perhaps, it is because of the changes from analog to digital. Although we are not talking about my TV but a computer monitor. We do have Cable and had to get the converter box for the TV set but I still don't understand that that would affect the computer. Any suggestions?

I have a TV card in my computer - I did buy it because of the change over.
So it is fairly new.
Do you have any info about your TV card?
Is there any kind of antenna connection on the back of the computer?

Mine came with a single extend able 4' antenna & the connecting cable.

Then I had to do a scan for channels also before it worked

You can still watch videos like on youtube correct?

Ah! I don't have a TV card for my computer, only for the TV. I am going to check my TV card to see if there is some info. There is a cable connection directly to my computer but no antenna.

You should be able to watch TV shows on websites like Hulu.com and the network websites. ABC, CBS , CNN etc..
you have to endure the ads.

I don't know if your cable connection on your computer is for the internet connection only???

I haven't tried watching any tv on my parents computer - they have comcast for internet & also cable TV.
But I think they are separate cables & connections. But I'm not sure.

If you have a cable jack in the back of your computer,you can watch regular TV. Just plug and go! If you dont have a cable jack for the coaxial cable, then you have to go to ABC.com NBC.com HULU.com and so forth.

Also if you are on a TV internet such as Comcast, you can watch thru thier website most any program that is broadcast on your TV thru their on demand menu of programs. Just be sure to avoid places that charge per movie or show. There are way too many free places out there to pay for anything.

OK. Let's see. I have no Comcast. I like the suggestion of going to Hulu, ABC etc. etc. I tried one of those 'letters' once and it was fine for the show. Some commercials but not bad. Good warning: make sure I don't have 'to pay'.

I am trying to remember all the observations. We have separate Cable connections for the TV and the computer. I don't think I have the 'thingadin' that plugs in. I just remember that this computer of mine has 'Ethernet'. I think I asked my Cable company about the card and they said I did not need it because I had Ethernet.

There must be a mistake somewhere when I last tried to program the Media Center. It says it needs the Windows Live Messenger but even when I sign in 'it does not find it'... I will see if I can call the Cable Company.
