Hi.

Thanks very much for the information

For me, the Flip video camera seems very simple. I'm saving up to buy one.

Thank you Mrs. D.

Melody
P.S. I finally learned how to use my webcam CORRECTLY. Yesterday I made a video (go to youtube and just type in eliz7212) and you'll see my latest one on my stackable sprouting trays. People on another forum asked me "Make a video on how you use the green trays".

So I did.

People are sprouting all over the place.

lol

P.S. I'm down to 6 1/2 of the Lantus. This morning sugar was 114.
NEVER HAD THAT HAPPEN IN MY LIFE. whatever I'm doing, it's working.

Did you buy a Flip yet?

I happened on a sale on one at Best Buy a couple months ago. I was not looking for a video camera at all. But, I had been thinking of having someone video me working with my service dog so I might see mistakes or ways to improve my training.

I saw one on sale for $99, and checked it out. The guy who helped me was really very good (surprise for Best Buy!) he didn't try to get me to buy the $200 model.

My Flip says "Ultra" on the front. I'm looking at the directions and can't see a model number. It takes 2 AA batteries. It will also work with rechargables. When I know I am going to use it I charge batteries and use them, but if it is spur of the moment and away from home, I use regular AA and take a spare set with me.

It has a bit of zoom, but that is about it for bells and whistles. Yes, a thing comes out of the side to connect to USB - mine did not come with any cords, so if you don't have a USB cable, you will need one unless you can plug it right into a laptop or a USB port that you can reach. My computer's USB port is in the back, and it's a desktop type, so I have a cable connected that I use with it.

It is a simple as it sounds - press the button to record and again to stop.

Downloading to your computer - I can't answer that. I have a Mac, and when I connect, it comes up like a USB Drive, I open it, find the file and drag and drop to my desktop. I don't use iPhoto to import it. I **think** it may have come with a disk of Windows apps, but I am not sure, and I don't have the box handy.

Then I use a mac program called iMovie - which I had never used before I got this camera - to edit, add slides with words... you can also add music. I am sure there is something similar for Windows. I will PM you a link to a video I shot of my service dog.

I don't read this forum normally, so if you reply here, and I don't respond back to you, it is because I forgot to check back! So, PM me for more info.

Hi. I pm'd you.

I haven't bought the Flip yet. And when I do, I'll use it to make videos and upload to youtube. I have a usb right in front of my tower. Says USB 2.0 so that's the one I'll use.

Now THAT will be a hoot!!

Thanks much

You are not kidding.

What do you think of this one?

I know it's refurbished but it's cheap.

It looks just like mine except mine is white. All the buttons are the same, etc.

I have bought a refurbished camera before, it worked out ok. When I was working, co-workers bought refurbished computers, and did not have issues, but this was from Apple.

I used to by a lot of stuff from TigerDirect. I have not had $ to buy computer stuff lately, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again, based on my experience in the past.

Okay, I have a NEW question about the Flip

I finally figured out that it has a playback feature because there is a button that says PLAY so obviously you record something, press PLAY and you can view it right?

So here is my next question (because I don' buy stuff unless I UNDERSTAND all of it.)

I was just at the Tiger Direct website and they have an update to the $69.00 one that is an FLIP HD. Looks exactly like the $69.00 one so what is the big difference between them? The color of the video, the sharpness of the video? I mean this update is $50 more so what is the big difference between them?

Also, and here is why I am confused. I read all the opinions that people wrote (on both models).

One person said he had to buy a USB cable. Now if this thing has a USB THINGEE that plugs into a usb port, why did this man have to buy a USB cable to connect it to his PC?

Another question. One person said that he charged the FLIP with his USB connector and it stopped working. Another person said the charging is too slow when connected to the computer.

You charge this device by plugging it into the computer (kind of like my old IPOD?)

I thought it uses AA batteries (one guy said "I stopped using the USB charging and went back to using batteries). Also I thought I read where it offers a re-chargeable battery pack.

So if someone could just clear up these questions for me

1. How is the Flip charged?
2. Do you need a usb cable?

thanks much

I am saving up for one of these only I don't know which one I'll need. I will only be using it to do little recordings and uploading to youtube. Not for anything else. So I don't need big memory or anything like that.

I do want a good quality video however.
