I think those pop ups only work if you have the Outlook, Outlook Express or Thunderbird set up for use on your computer.
I don't use Microsoft Word so I can't test that option, maybe someone will come along with info on using it for email. If you use webmail {Verizon website or any website for email }, I don't think there is a way to get those pop up emails to work. I think you would really like the Thunderbird email program - it is so much faster & more convenient that getting the email on the Verizon website. The newest version it has an automatic set up helper - just type in your email address & it searches for the proper settings then asks you for the password. And you can still go in and adjust specific settings if you want to - in the past setting up the incoming & outgoing info was where most had problems.
