Take a look
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3nahx5kQXB4 I've been getting these for a long long time now. And it kicks out my sound. I then have to reboot my computer for the sound to come back. If anyone can explain what these messages are, I'd appreciate it. And I had just rebooted my computer so I wasn't running any programs. They just APPEAR. And as you can see for yourself, one just vanished in one second. Very confusing. Thanks to anyone who has experienced this and who can tell me what I need to do to correct this. Melody

Try typing that window error # into Google...and see what comes up. That is what I do.
It might be malware that just looks like a windows screen. I hope Jo will be along for you soon...she is very good with this stuff! ![]()

I got the same situation with Win7, but I wouldn't try it on XP and you wouldn't like to either! It was an update that Microsoft rolled out themselves.
You may have to go into the system registry and delete about 8 lines, if it is a similar thing. I would try http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows Then select the right operating system, and in the question box type in a good deal of the error (with quotes on either side).

I wonder if your Windows is looking for device: your camcorder?
a new printer? some "device". If you don't disconnect it properly, when you reboot, your system may be still looking for it? Your error message did say "device" in it? this just occurred to me when I plugged my camera in to download some pictures.

I can't read the error msg very clearly.
I can read the part on one of them that says something like... "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item" I think that's what it says. Hard to see... edited to add. I would run a virus scan first. I searched this error and there appears to be a large number of reasons for the message to appear. 2nd one mentions exe. Exe files are used to install and run programs and routines. I'll do it and see what happens. I am SO clueless!! lol Melody P.S. Update. Just pulled the printer connection out from the back of my computer. I never use it and I don't want to plug something into the electrical socket if I don't use it. If I need to use it eventually, I'll re-connect it. So we'll see what hapepns. So that would explain the message about Windows cannot access the specific device. But the other message. That one always knocks out the sound on my computer. Like if I want to watch a youtube video, and that stupid message pops up, THERE GOES MY SOUND. I went to my computer, control panel, sound etc. and it tells me I have no sound card. When I reboot and everything comes back up, I go back to control panel etc, AND THERE'S THE SOUND INFORMATION, right back and everything is working. I have looked this up on google and I'm not the only one with this problem. Kind of complicated for me to fix though. Lots of steps. So when the sound is knocked off, all I have to do is re-boot and it comes right back on. I wish I understood this. Thanks much

IF it is similar to my situation and has only happened recently, you could have a look at the list of installed updates and see what has been installed by windows around that time. Then bit by bit, un-install them.

Thanks SO much. Melody NEVER MIND, I went to control panel, add/remove programs, selected SHOW UPDATES, and the whole thing popped up (SO MANY), but the latest update was for March 2011. All the rest in 2011 were in Feb, and they were security updates for Internet Explorer. So I don't think it has anything to do with updates. Thanks, Mel
