You still have the old computer right? everything is still there?
just plug it back in long enough to re save and recopy the bookmark file- maybe something got scrambled somehow... or if you have a spare Ethernet cable hook the new one to the old one via the cable, but if there's any chance the old one might have a bug, best to not even try it. but you could copy the bookmarks straight across that way. But might be best to let the pc guy do it if you can, just to make sure it goes well. supposedly there are ways to make 7 look like xp - http://www.google.com/#hl=en&sa=X&ei...w=1360&bih=668
