My speaker thingy is set to 100% and I tested my speakers. Working perfectly. On some videos the sound is loud and clear. But not the link that I gave you.

Now why on earth do you get sound and I don't.

Might be a codec thing. I have all the flashplayers installed, etc. Adobe is on, everything is on. You get sound, I don't get sound on that movie.

But other stuff I get sound just fine.

mm mm mm

Something to look into.

I'm going to get my friend Allengamer to get a look at this.

Melody
P.S Thanks to you all

Maybe your browser needs to be updated??
Is is firefox? 13.01 is the latest update

click Help and then About Firefox to check that.

Also Tools & Add ons - check those for updates...

Or you can re down load FF from Mozilla and re install it - right over the top of FF you have already, it will keep all your same info & settings.

Oh, does the sound work with IE or Chrome browsers???

If it works fine then it would be a setting/add ons or something with the browser you are using and not with the computer.

But if it is a problem on all browsers, then it is something with your computer or windows.

I don't know if you tried all or some of the things I mentioned??
sound
FF yes or no
IE yes or no
chrome you said no correct?

or try a totally new browser from a fresh download & install - like Opera, slim browser or Comodo dragon (very much like chrome)
and see if one of those works or not..??

I've used all at one time or another , except the last one.

I'd try one at a time to test it , then remove/uninstall if you don't like it and try the next one. But if none of those make a difference , it is something with your computer that is scrambled.

You might run some antivirus scans first to make sure all is clean before adding more programs..

How on earth can it be something on my computer when I can watch all the What's my Line Videos on youtube, all sounds play fine on my computer. But then when it comes to movies on youtube or anything on hulu, well forget it.

And this happens with firefox, chrome, internet explorer. Same thing.

I am now going to test a Harry Potter DVD. I have NEVER watched a dvd on my computer yet.

Will get back to you.

thanks very much

Well, I found out WHY!!!!

We always use headphones (plugged into the front of the tower). Because Alan is slightly hard of hearing, we never use the same volume. So (and we've always used these), I had an inline volume control thing attached to the headphones. The headphones themselves did not come with a volume controller so this was the easiest way to raise or lower the volume (then we didn't have to go to the bottom right of the monitor and adjust the volume)

I have been using this inline volume control thing for YEARS. And all of a sudden it doesn't work with youtube movies or hulu??

Well, just now I unplugged the headphones, took off the inline control thing, plugged the headphones themselves directly to the headphone jack and guess what??

I CAN NOW HEAR EVERYTHING, EVEN MY YOUTUBE VIDEOS AND HULU.

SUCCESS!!! Ah, life is good.

So here's my query.

I am so used to using an inline control volume adjuster, does this mean I can never use one again? What about if I find a set of headphones that come with an inline volume thing built in? I used to be able to find these but not anymore. It was so easy for me to use this inline volume adjuster.

Hey, no big deal, I'll simply lower the volume manually when i sit and Alan can adjust it when he sits down at the computer.

THANK GOD.

And thank all of you for all the cool suggestions.

How silly. It was that stupid thing all the time. lol

This is extremely frustrating. I went on google and determined that youtube uses Adobe Flash. Which I have because I have Google Chrome. It just indicated that because I have Chrome, I have Adobe Flash player and don't need to upgrade it.

Well, what I want to know is how come I can hear all the videos that are in my youtube account perfectly fine. But when I click on a movie or something, I can hear the music playing fine but when someone talks in the movie, I hear it so low I can't view the video. but if it's music playing, then I hear the music just fine.

And the info I got on google indicated that you don't need codecs to watch youtube because it uses Flash. And I have Flash.

What the heck do I do now (someone help me before I hit this computer)

I just did a system restore. It prompted me to do an Adobe Flash update which I of course did.

I then went to see if my youtube videos (sound I mean) played fine. They did. I then went to see if the other stuff on youtube (old movies I mean, like the link I gave you) did it play for me? No, no audio.

Now here is where it gets REALLY interesting.

I like to watch the old episodes of What's my Line

PLAYS LOUD AND CLEAR

Take a look

Clear as a bell

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tckhf...eature=related

So how come I can watch my youtube videos, I can watch old sitcom videos but I can't get any audio on the movies and certain youtube stuff.

This will drive me bonkers.

I promise no more venting from me.

Maybe Alangamer will see this and have pity on me.

lol

Just wanted to tell you what a tech guy suggested (none of this worked by the way). He said to go into any video on youtube, right click inside the video, select settings and then uncheck "enable Hardware accelerator".
Did that. NOTHING CHANGED.

He then suggested I uninstall Adobe Flash Player. Couldn't do it from Google Chrome so I went to add/remove programs and uninstalled all Adobe stuff.

I then found out that Google Chrome comes with a built in Flash player and sure enough all the videos that I previously could see, well I still could see them.

Then I went into Alan's Firefox browser and INSTALLED Adobe from there. I read that when I want to view a video that Google chrome will know what Flash player to use. (Don't ask me, I don't get this either).

So I installed a brand new Adobe Flasher player and all plug ins.

Guess What?

Nothing changed.

So I've tried EVERYTHING that tech people have suggested.

I have really no idea what to do.

Any suggestions are most helpful

Melody

Lightbulb

Try viewing withOUT Chrome. Seems we had some Google Chrome problems here before? There are glitches with Chrome.

Use Firefox or Explorer and see if they work.
