Our old laptop which is now running on a 2nd hard-drive, has this fan problem on start up sometimes. It tends to show up if you
rush the boot up sequence by clicking on something too soon. So if your fan appears "clean", try and let the thing start up and don't rush it. I tend to be impatient upNorth on boot up because we run on an exterior battery, because that battery died years ago and we are not going to pay the huge price to fix that too. We have an exterior battery by Energizer that runs several things, including the laptop instead of fixing that costly internal battery. We don't have electricity up there.
