I haven't, when the XP on my desktop finally dies totally , then I'm going 100% Linux.

My last year's low end laptop came with Win 7, but still has lot of HP/Compaq bloatware on it. I use it mainly for Quicken and important family records, so not a daily use thing. More like every other month to update things..

You can download an upgrade assistant to check your current machine.

Or just buy here for $40: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/buy

Nor sure about the Nook..but probably...

I am dreading this.... majorly dreading. We are not savvy enough to do alternate operating systems.

Our tower from Dell is almost 8 yrs old now, with a fairly new
hard-drive. But we have discussed getting a new tower, since they are so much lower in price. I really don't like Win 7, so I suspect Win 8 will be similar. gag gag!

Our son wants us to get an Apple. sigh.

Not liking that at all, lots of extra steps & clicking around it seems.

They should have borrowed an idea from some of the Linux distros that allow a right click on the desktop to bring up the whole system menu & programs list.

I suppose they are trying to shake things up so they don't fade away, but some of the changes just don't make sense to me.
