There are outlet sites online that sell discontinued shoes.

If you know the shoe model...plug that into Google and see if an outlet has a new pair.

I bought a new pair of Crocs once...and disinfected them with alcohol because they are plastic after all.

But I would not buy regular shoes or athletic shoes off Ebay.
Too risky for getting a contaminated pair.

Thanks Mrs D. I am not going to take the chance. I already have too many feet issues that I can't get an infection especially since I won't let a doctor touch my feet or legs anymore because of the pain.

There should be no problem with "new" shoes. And in your other post they said they were "new" with tags. No problem either using Paypal. That's pretty much what is required now. We have a separate bank account only for Paypal and it uses a credit card that is just for that. It works like a charm.

And of course the seller gets your address. That's how they send items out to you. I sold quite a lot on eBay and in the past couple of years their policies have changed. At the time I sold everything I wanted to sell and it was good stuff. No longer can a seller give negative feedback to a buyer. I think that is wrong as there are a few buyers who really do deserve a negative. I had a couple and then there were those that didn't get a negative and really should have. Some buyers can be impossible at times. However, a buyer can give negative feedback to a seller.

I had an excellent rating and enjoyed selling. I do quite a bit of buying on there now. Be certain that you read all of the information and ask questions if you need to. And ask again any and all questions. Most sellers are very happy to answer your questions. eBay is nothing to be afraid of. Just do your homework and then decide what you want to do.

Ebay is a great resource for finding odd hard to find items. I've been using both ebay and paypal for many years and have had mostly good experiences with both. I have a few tidbits of wisdom to share with you from my experiences.

1. If you are buying, shy away from sellers who have a low number of transactions (less than 50) and also a rating of less than 98%

2. If you sell something on ebay and get paid via paypal- be careful because a buyer can get a chargeback order on the purchase transaction and get thier money back- even after you've sent them the item. So they get your item basically for free- so be careful with ratings and experience of buyers of your items as well.

Aside from food, I do most of my shopping online. With my disabilities (TBI, spinal injuries, PTSD, etc...), I find it a lot easier than dragging myself through crowded, noisy stores.

I use PalPal, linked to a credit card and have had very few problems. As for Ebay, I now have a good group of vendors who get most of my business.

I have difficulty with busy crowded stores as well, so I love having the option of buying online. Plus, our prices are so expensive for a lot of goods here in Au., that it's often cheaper to buy online and have them delivered from overseas. (I'm sure our present govt. will put an end to that as soon as they can! )

I don't buy too much but have bought things from ebay and used paypal and never had a problem.

I have bought from new sellers. I have no problem buying from regular people rather than the ebay stores. One has to start somewhere, so many have just started using the site and are trying to make a bit of cash. I have found them all on the ball with fast delivery and fast messages etc.. The reputation system with ebay is a good idea and helps regulate standards to a certain extent. I always read reviews if I'm going to buy something.

I have been on eBay for over 15 years and with Paypal from the start. I have 100% POS feedback but only 54 "feedbacks". Here is my whine of the day.

I have 3 auctions this week (as a seller) and one has sold with a Buy It Now. They are holding my funds for 21 days as I don't sell frequently enough...

I am livid.

I like Ebay as a buyer...but I am very very careful. I don't think I could ever become a seller. It is too complex for me.

I also use Ebay as a learning tool. I like to watch various topics besides the ones I usually do (vintage apothecary/pharmaceutical/medical and art supplies). Buying gently used art supplies or wholesale lots saves me tons of cash.

This year alone I have purchased 4 vintage display drawers brush holders etc, that were very reasonable. They are lots of fun in my studio now! 3 are wood and one metal.

I have heard Ebay sellers gripe quite a bit though. So I don't think I would ever become a seller. I really scope out sellers, and watch their bidding offers before using them. I prefer Buy it Now offers too, because the shills are not there. Some of the the offers I'd like to have are terribly shilled. I found one today with elevating items....who has 1000 bids in the past 30 days, and you know, that is highly suspect IMO. I won't bid on a shiller seller.

But you know I have some really nifty items thanks to Ebay. I used to get angry in the past. Now I just think: ppppfffffTTTTTT...God doesn't want me to have "that" item, when it passes my budget limits or has shills playing games on it. Dishonest sellers also package sloppily leading to damaged goods on arrival. It is always best to avoid any hinky people on Ebay.

But I have purchased things from new sellers...not high priced things, and when I do (not often though) lately it turned out well for me. Newbies don't have an army of fake bidders, and are eager to get their feedback up and willing to please. I sent a message with payment urging them to pack my sensitive art supplies to avoid damage. And so far that has worked well, this year for me. I also avoid the shipping greed ...anyone who inflates shipping doesn't get my business.

Right now I am learning about fishing lures...but I also like to look at Akro glass and marbles, some vintage toys (I like Bambi and Looney Tunes), puzzles, etc. I've met and corresponded with several wonderful people/sellers on Ebay!

I started on Ebay years ago to find Corelle New Visions glass cookware, which I prefer because it is clean and not contaminated, but no longer made. But then, I became habituated to Ebay over time....LOL

I have been on eBay for years. I bought and I sold. It was fine then as far as being a seller. But a few years ago things changed and I would not care to be a seller now. For one thing as a seller you can only give positive feedback now and the buyer can give whatever kind of feedback they want. Really not fair I think. There are a few buyers who deserve negative feedback. Of course, there are some sellers who do as well. I always check out their feedback and that can tell a lot about the seller - good or bad. I've seen sellers get negative feedback that you can tell they did not deserve. But that is the way it is now.

I buy on eBay all the time as I always have. My feedback should be more but alas some sellers do not bother. They just do not. I have had good experiences as a buyer and as a seller. But now, as I said, I would not want to be a seller.

As far as shipping charges, you just have to be aware. Then you go from there.
