If it is older can you just put a bit of glue to hold it?
but if newer I wouldn't try that. do things flop around or wiggle because of this piece missing? if not and if you don't carry it around a lot it should be OK, but I'm not a expert with laptops at all. I did google "HP laptop parts" -you might find what you need on one of the links http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...=Google+Search

If it gets bad. I am sure that an in-store "geeksquad"-er can direct us the right way. I am sure that a new frame (arround the screen) is reasonably priced if it gets really bad it is totally fixable.
It happened a few weeks ago, but the piece just fell off recently. (Yesterday.) I want to make it clear, that the lap top works absolutely fine, it must have been a weak spot in the molding of the monitor (not the viewing screen). Thanks again. Maybe I'll see what I can do tommorow, by phone. (It'll cut me time later.) |

If it's from Christmas it should have some sort of warranty - maybe it won't cost you anything.

Well, I went to anouther board the same night I posted here and everybody there really doesn't have a glowing opinion of the "Geek Squad". (BTW. Unrelated to our fine little family.)
However, I did a less than five minute search a few minutes ago and found a place in my home town pretty much down the street that can fix the problem if it gets really bad and starts to creep up wich I doubt, but since it is a chunk out of front I am wondering if any of the non damaged parts can get effected. (IE a crack going horizontally. (Can't really go vertically because there is a decorative hole in the design of the lap top front panel (??????????) I was going to call somewhere today, but I had no time. Though the wierd thing, the chunk that is missing seems to be smaller than the chunk we had found on the floor. (Again, plastic molding from the monitor. No computer screen.) No, we didn't save the chunk because we didn't know what it was. but since the front panel comes off and is replaceable. No big loss. Thanks again everybody! |
