Default ? for the techies here about screen brightness

I have been noticing lately when I am on my PC that I get a horrible headache. It is worse when I bend my head down. So I try to keep my head straight or bent a lttle back if I can. But when you are typing on you PC it's kind of hard. So I was wondering if it has anything to do with my screen brightness. I think I know how to adjust it on my laptop because it is a battery saver and I have done that before. I definetely know how to do it on my Nook. But I can't figure anything on my PC. I went to control panel and didn't see anything that jumped out at me. I also just typed in search on the Windows screen and it gave me no results. But I am tired of a nightly severe headache.

The settings are probably on the monitor itself, near the on /off button for it.

Mine has 4 or 5 buttons along the lower edge.
Press one and a text box with options should appear on screen.
You may need to press a few to figure out how to choose and select to make changes.
Or if you still have the book that came with it, it will tell you how to do it.

Or another way is to do a web search for your monitor brand name to get to the website for it, and then locate the model number there.
The manual should be there to download.

There's a free program called F.lux that you can install on your computer that will dim your screen for you gradually throughout the day. You don't even notice it. I have it on my computers. Works great. I discovered it last year when I had a really bad optic neuritis. It helps keep people from getting insomnia from the really bright light of a computer screen messing up their circadian rhythm

Wow thanks for telling us about F.lux, it is nice!!

Bright glare /screens bother my eyes too.

I'm going to place a copy of this thread to the Computer forum, so more might see it.

Here is the F.lux website , you can download from it and avoid cnet's added stuff they have with their downloads now..
