Scary stuff. I wondered about something like that.
I don't know if anyone else remembers but way back in the late '90s people were sending others a short piece of code I guess it was and it would open the cd drawer on the computer if you clicked on it. At the time it was all done in fun and amazement but I figured that was just the very beginning of something not quite right.

Thanks for sharing this.

I had seen this done on a car show on TV.
I don't understand why automobile manufacturers would allow this in their products. Why aren't they more concerned about making sure this is not possible? Very odd, it seems.

This has concerned me since I saw a stolen car being immobilised remotely by the manufacturer at the behest of the Police following it. Then I thought it only a matter of time, it is very scary stuff.

Wow!

It could get very expensive for the manufacturer.
I hope lessons are well-learned and not quickly forgotten.
I cannot imagine leaving this vulnerability wide open, even if not penalized for having done so. We'll see how the "buyback offer" pans out for the manufacturer. I am glad this has been exposed and a "remedy" is being offered to each vehicle owner.
