Thunderbird is Mozilla's, (maker of Firefox browser), email software. I believe they also do scheduling, and contact information as well, but I have not used it in years, so I do not remember.

It's an email program. It will bring your email to your computer, so you don't have to log in online at a website. You can also save your emails in the program on your own computer instead of only online. Or you can save emails both ways..depending on how you set it up.

I am still waiting for my ISP to let me know what the password is for my Tbird account (I don't see why this should be hard) - I will hassle them again after Easter. In the meantime I have modified it so all new messages which arrive there get automatically forwarded to my Gmail account and then get deleted from it. This works - today the standard "There is a new post in a NT thread that you have contributed to." advisories appeared in my Gmail account.

The other thing that I have learned through trial and error is that System Restore is not the same in Win10 as it is in Win7. In Win7 it just removes new programs and program updates but does not touch new datafiles but in Win10 it removes new datafiles as well. Grrr...

Everything was backed up on my external HD so I spent a tedious few hours putting everything back.

That's a long time to wait for a response from an ISP..
[ Tbird account ] ??
This is confusing to me. The Tbird program has a master password option - but your ISP wouldn't have that , it is only on your computer when you install Tbird and set a master password..( if you have to type a password to open access to the program.).

So I'm thinking you are calling it Tbird account password... but it is the password for your email account @ISP?? to get the pop mail into the Thunderbird program?
If that is the case, do they have a forgot password option on their website?

You didn't want to attempt the copy/paste from the old Tbird profile into the new installation of Tbird? It seems daunting the first time, but doing step by step it isn't so bad..

But it really will save you a lot of time & headache if it is only the email password you need, the old passwords and all saved emails are saved inside the old profile files..
Unless I am missing something...

how to find saved passwords in thunderbird

My friend called me at 8AM and telling me Microsoft was attempting to download Win 10 and she does NOT want it. She's very content with Win 7 as am I. She was alerting me that I could be faced with this. So far not the case. I use the computer for so little and don't keep anything important on it. She on the other hand has worked with computers since the 60's but still does not want Win 10.
