My partner has had similar issues - she is happy with Windows 7 though will probably have Windows 10 on her next new machine.

My friend has an extra laptop and going to install Win 10 to see how she likes it etc. For her desk top, she is happy with Win 7.

I really don't miss Windows at all...Linux OS's have improved /simplified so much from when I first started playing around with it The top distros are very close to looking & feeling like Windows XP.

If you want to try some & don't know how to burn an ISO image to CD , there is site to order- approx 5.95 each...
Some Libraries have computer magazines or books that will have a Live bootable cd inside - you can run from your cd drive to see if you like it..
