Well now I feel like that little short lady in the Poltergeist movie.. "This Computer Is clean". :D
Thanks to Tom I learned many strange and wonderous things such as how to run as an administrator, temporarily disable my Avast and I made my own restore point. I ran Farbar Recovery tool, Adware Cleaner and Junk File Removal tool from Bleeping Computer and now its running well. I seem to have had a lot of Adware. I was wondering why Malwarebytes had only been scanning around 80k objects when it regularly looks at 250k+, it was doing that and now is scanning more again. Does some malware disable part of it? It did that once before as well and then I think started doing more when I finally got rid of some PUPs. Thanks to everyone and the forum as well, aside from being expensive its even hard for me to get to the computer shop with my disability and no car so I appreciate the help I get. |

HDD - is older style has disks that spin - you might hear whirring sounds as it operates. SSD - means solid state drive - newer technology- similar to an oversized usb or flash drive.. find hard drive info if you have Win 7- or change to your version... hard drive. - Google Search |
We just bought a new laptop from Dell. We investigated a SSD drive but they were very expensive.
In fact our laptop was quite expensive IMO and it does not have a touch screen either. It appears the core Intel chip and the RAM and HD capacity are most of the cost. |

Sorry I missed replying to all of this, 'Old Lady flakes Out Again!" :p
Yes, I whir so I am HDD and it probably needs to be defragged. Mrs D my laptop is an old higher end Dell and it refuses to die in spite of how much I abuse it. ;) |
Zygopetalum, I would not worry too much about defragging your HDD.
As long as your computer meets your needs (all that matters) I doubt that doing a defragg would change things much. |

SSD and HDDs can generally be the same size if used for laptops. The main difference between the two is weight. SSD generally have lower storage capacity than the normal run of the mill HDDs. The main reason ppl use SSDs than HDDs for Windows is load time for it and other programs. Its Pro(s) is boot time, and not needing to be defragmented. Its Con(s) is its not recommended to be defragmented, as it can reduce its lifespan. |
